It does

But it seems clear that we're trying to sign him permanently

FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

That could drag on if he has  3 years left on is contract will want some money of Charlton probably before leaving unless we’re offering a similar deal

Who knows but can only see us paying a hefty fee for one striker Kenny would be a loan at best and there would be a fee there also

I'm not sure Ahadme will require a huge fee, although his wages seem as though they might be a stumbling block

The rumours suggest we're trying to negotiate a transfer fee for Kenny

Didn’t Charlton pay a million for him last year ? That would be a big hit for them if its a low fee

Don’t need two others; just a good striker to back up Dalby; if we are bringing in the Charlton lad hopefully it’s just a loan

SS disagrees with you.  He wants 2 more strikers.

Warren, Abimbola & Lawrence are playing B Team or out on loan.  Warren may play a few like Pizza type games.

Vic will take months to get up to speed after an ACL, so peripheral for most of the season.

Leaves Dalby plus 2 new signings.

We don't really know the structure of the deal

I can't imagine it'd have been a straight million pound fee, probably more likely one that rises to that figure if certain clauses are met

I'm the same.

If we signed em both it would leave us with Dalby, Warren, Adahme, Kenny then Vic, Big Dave and Lawrence all vying for one position.

The last 3 wouldn't even be vying for a place on the bench.  And Warren may turn out to be great for us, but has to go in the "squad player" category for the foreseeable assuming we sign one or 2 others.  It would be Dalby, Adahme and Kenny for one position, but there's no law against us occasionally having 2 of them on the pitch at once, eg last 15 minutes bombardment when needing a goal.

Don't know a lot about this Ahadme but he scored a lot of headers at cambridge. If he can hold the ball up and play up top by himself I'm happy with a loan. Even if he's third choice.

I agree, Adavim

Whoever we end up with, there are signs of enough improvement in our defensive structure and speed of transition to give me hope that we can compete this season.
Even though preseason isn’t really representative, we’ve managed to defend well (mostly) and score a few without a recognised striker so it seems like this search is for the cherry on the cake.

can't find anything that suggests he signed for £1M+

there's certainly nothing in his stats during his spell at Ipswich or the loans to suggest he could fetch £1M+

all I can see is he signed for Ipswich for an undisclosed "six figure" fee

Saw some comments from Charlton fans on the internet along the lines of “I’ll drive him to Bolton myself”  - but also “maybe we’ll get our £million back?”

From what I can gather it seems to have been about 750k

I you're reading too much into things

Also saw this

…which suggests Kenny deal has stalled.

But…..could still be a bluff to get Rodger’s to budge.

Also if we’re offering anything like £750k for the Charlton lad, we must surely have offered at least that for Kenny.

You do know that is written by some spotty kid in his bedroom.

You could have a lot better site yourself lusty.

One of the same spotty kids that fill Twitter with 'get him signed', 'just pay the money ffs' about Kenny.

Didn’t say it was ITK though - Zico was saying he hadn’t seen anything to suggest it was a million so I posted that because it does say it was a million.

Some/same folk are reading too much into it 😎

Warren was doing well pre season before his injury and was catching the eye.

Don't think he will go out on loan initially. Especially given the current lack of a forward line.

Warren is our potential dark horse.

No need to load pressure on the lad or have unrealistic expectations but his displays by all accounts have been eye opening. All power to the guy.

Although we’ve used him as a 9, he actually plays right wing, as a left footer. This versatility makes him a valuable squad player.

Warren will probably flirt between the bench and the B team I would of thought for now

Think you're right.  Huge step up from the level he was playing at and he needs 6 months under our careful eye to get used to being a full time pro and training every day, etc.  He looks to have something about him.

If we don't need him can see him going out in the New Year.

My thoughts too.

Have a look, and then decide.
