Youri McAnespie Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 (edited) Oh aye, I paid for an apartment for November in the same place other day...Well over a third dearer than last year. Â Brexshit wank. Â I bet we don't even send the buggers back, the scrounging ones... Â All the good 'uns are/will leave of their own accord - because of practicalities and/or no longer feeling welcome. Shame. Edited September 8, 2017 by Youri McAnespie Quote

Andydee Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Where?  Revolut can also be used in ATM  Isn't there a £200/month limit on cash withdrawals for the basic and £400/mth for premium.  I always use cash in Greece but £200 wouldn't go very far. Quote
Casino Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Where?  Revolut can also be used in ATM Corfu  Place I went earlier in the summer in kefalonia, number one restaurant on tripad, it had been shut down a few weeks later due to alleged tax fraud  They love cash Quote
Bigtoe Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I used my clarity at the atm in lourdas at the pireaus bank. Perfect exchange rate and no cash fees. Just did my online banking every few days to avoid interest. No limits.. i withdrew 1500 euros. Quote

Bigtoe Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I have to tell Halifax where I'm going abroad. Yeah you just do it online. Couple of clicks. Quote
tomski Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 (edited) Segway good way of seeing the centre. Auschwitz can be done on a local bus from the main bus station. Still a decent coach, not some rickety charabanc. Think it only stops once or twice en-route. Book in advance for the English-speaking tour. Work out your bus times first, so they match up. Visit the salt mines as well. And again, local bus gets you there pretty easily. Again book the tickets in advance for the tour. thank you 're revolut I also use this. Main benefit is not having to change money and rate is always better than shops for less hassle Edited September 8, 2017 by tomski Quote
MancWanderer Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Is Revolut a card? Like other pre-paid cards you can get?  See....I like taking cash abroad in Europe. Me and Mrs Manc are both in sales so always try to barter on the price. "Come in to my my lovely restaurant" - OK what discount you giving if we pay you cash and eat in your place rather than the one next door? Doesn't always work but does a lot of the time  Post Office is handy for me but prob need to find somewhere better for the exchange rate Quote
tomski Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Yes. But you can take it out of ATM or pay by card without the hassle. Done it the last 4 or 5 abroad trips and its great Quote

Doesn't always work but does a lot of the time  Post Office is handy for me but prob need to find somewhere better for the exchange rate It's a card onto which you load money (by bank transfer) and then you can use it anywhere they accept MasterCard. You can also use it at ATMs to withdraw cash, although there is a limit of £200 withdrawals per month before you get charged a 2% transaction fee on withdrawals.  The exchange rate you get is much better than that offered by banks / cashcards / money exchanges (per the emails above) so it's ideal for using like a debit card. And you manage uploads etc by way of an app, which means it's easy to top-up instantly and keep track of spends. Quote

Cheers. Do they have a maximum withdrawal at any one time? I'm thinking I'm taking 600 Euros with me tomorrow. Could I get there and take the whole lot in one go? And just pay the 2% fee on the £400? barryk32 Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I got back from Florida a week ago and it was nearly a very short trip. Â I put my fingers in the scanner and immedietely got escorted to airport jail to be questioned about every single thing I'd ever done. Â Now I'm not that naughty of a bloke so heads up to any of you planning on making a trip. Quote
