this is interesting

Arfur Mild wrote: Carlos, Casino & bwfcfan5 on Wanderersways remain v.sceptical. They have observed a history of an ST regularly challenging Anderson but never challenging Holdsworth and that doesn't necessarily equate to 'the correct level of challenge'.I personally picked up more than a strong hint last season that one or more members of the ST board had the ear of Dean Holdsworth (and vice versa) and that worried me. Who is to blame for this BluMarble/Holdsworth thing STILL dragging on? Is it Anderson's fault, Holdsworth's fault or is there no-one willing to pay for BM to go away and/or provide Deano with another pay day?

interesting as its been deleted

how very odd

SEEMS ARFUR DELETED IT NOT THE bn

NOT SURE WHY, BUT THERE YOU GO

Iles and Dearden both suckered in by the trust and their allies. Neither can get their heads around Ken's attempts to run the club as a business. Probably because both are a bit thick.

Remember Dearden questioning Ken about the fallout with Holdsworth and legal battle at the time and just repeating 'but Ken, something has to be done, and if it can't be you need to move aside and let someone else come have a go'. Yep because running a business is about 'letting someone have a go'.

That, and no other fucker wants a go - Ken is the only show in town

a fact often overlooked

edit except the 'high net worth individuals' the ST have lined up

Can you all just not have a big scrap in the car park

aye

i still have an issue but im determined to hold them to account :)

the statement was going oh so well but izza couldnt resist the 'holding to account' line

we know

we get it

you dont speak for me

Agree with this, we know what a Trust is set up to do no need to reiterate the point time and time again. Anyhow pleased that the Trust has showed that they are willing to support the club and owner in sponsoring players.

Just to put things in context a little.

The ST are sponsoring five players, which I would guess equates to say £10,000.

Madine alone is probably on about £10,000 PER WEEK.

And since when has 31 year old Filipe Morais been a young academy player?

Aren't they contradicting their own stated aims somewhat here?

Even if the gesture was well intended it has been spoiled by the unnecessary and ceaseless rhetoric from the ST about 'holding the club to account'.

Why even say that when the story is about sponsoring players?

It was totally uncalled for - yet they said it.

Seems to me they have a fixation about this that underlines everything that is being done at the club.

I am no fan of the ST.

But people picking holes in this because of one line can hardly say they are being fair.

It is a good news story give them some credit.

They amount is not relevant the fact is they are clearly supporting the club.

The ST recently sent out a questionnaire regarding its relationship with the club hierarchy .

Much better tone to the way the way the  questions  were phrased compared to previous efforts  , I would say as a result of being

chastised by all & sundry.

also a section on how the ST should support the owners .

Also a comments section .

Trouble might be there are not enough interested folk left to reform it further .

oh & the question regarding the fanzone gave the option of staying in the Hotel amongst others (my preference)  .

Unnecessary and ceaseless rhetoric. You are accusing them of that ? Your posts are bordering on obsessive.

The tone from the Trust is so important and the comments from Daniel Izza in the context of the article weren't really callled for and served no purpose, in his defence it is a tough job and striking the right balance is a thankless task.

it isn't a tough job though isn't. Drop the big i am attitude and be a real fan with the clubs interest at heart and boom you are onto a winner.

fanzone idea back is good and hats off if they are going to help promote it etc.

I agree with you big fella, but Rome wasn't built in a day still work to do for the Trust that's for sure.????

The fan-zone to me is a no-brainer, especially as the club needs every penny it can get its hands on at this moment in time, people are going to spend money in a pub for a beer, may as well get then to spend it at the club

Newsletter from the Supporters Trust:

As we look forward to the new season we wanted to update you on a few things:

Member Survey

By now you should have received the survey which has been compiled in collaboration with the Club. Many of the questions relate to new initiatives that we are exploring with them to improve the fan experience and projects that will provide financial assistance to the Club. Your feedback on this is really important as it will help shape ST policy and inform our decisions. If you can spare a few minutes to complete the questionnaire it would be much appreciated.

Launch of the Academy Fund

One of the most important and exciting new projects is the launch of the Academy Fund. This fundraising initiative is being launched in conjunction with Bolton At Home who share our desire to see young talent developed at the club. To get the ball rolling with our support of young players, we will be sponsoring Jeff King, Connor Hall, Jake Turner and Alex Perry for the 17/18 season. In addition, we have also sponsored Filipe Morais.

This new fund is entirely separate from the Supporters' Trust membership fees and we will be in touch very soon to explain exactly how it will work and how you can donate. In the meantime, look out for the interview with our Chairman Daniel Izza in today's (3/8/17) Bolton News where he explains in more detail about the direction of the Trust and the new initiatives.

Elections and AGM

We are proposing to hold both the AGM and Board elections in late Autumn. In preparation for the elections, we would like to give members who think they may be interested in standing for election or helping the Trust in any way, the opportunity to meet with us and find out more about how we work and what would be involved. If you would like to register your interest and can spare a few hours a month, then let's have a chat. To register your interest, either email to enquiries@bwfcst.co.uk or go to our website, http://www.bwfcst.co.uk/register-your-interest/ fill out the simple contact form and a board member will be in touch with you as soon possible.

ACV

We are continuing to make enquiries of Bolton Council in respect of the review requested by various parties of the ACV process completed in February 2017. We have requested from the club their application details requesting the review but to date we have not received a response. We believe the ACV remains a generally good thing for the long term position of the club as it preserves the club's assets and ensures a transparency in transactions of significant community value.

SSBWFC Petition

To our knowledge the petition in respect of SSBWFC remains outstanding and is due to be heard on 7 August 2017. It is not likely that the Court will grant yet another adjournment. The remaining alternatives would be that the petition is dismissed or a winding up order is made. Making a winding up order would impact on the affairs of the club as this would mean that a substantial proportion of club shares would be in the hands of the liquidator of SSBWFC.

Whatever the outcome we will continue to hold a supportive, if critical watching brief and keep BWFC and its supporters' interests uppermost.

Finally, the long closed season has come to an end and we embark on another campaign on Sunday against Leeds Utd at the Macron. We at the Supporters' Trust would like to wish the players and Staff at BWFC all the very best for the coming season and hope we can emulate last season's unbelievable achievements.

so they want to bring back fanzone

fair enough

what was the reason for scrapping it?

without any info I'd guess they want people in the bar buying more expensive beer and ditching the running costs. Happy if someone knows otherwise

Makes sense now that the club would get income from the hotel bar, and the running costs of opening the Premier Suite must be astronomical. That said, on the rare occasions I went in, the Fanzone was always pretty packed and those using it didn't strike me as the type to go in the hotel bar, especially those with children.

Think there were clashes with evening events in the hotel so it would open a week closed a week.

Surely it can't be that expensive. 10 staff on minimum wage and the cleaner already employed on match days.

we seemed to make full use of it last year though so probably booked out most weekends.

would love us to offer some kind of drinking tent outside the ground but i understand this would be a nightmare. we could get local breweries to host their ales etc. keep the old duffers happy

and the beer was shit - cans FFS and plastic glasses

Shrewsbury was good for that. No pub for miles probably helped
