Stand lodge

That's the tale when I was at school

Whitefield- big houses at top of stand lane I heard- so stand lodge sounds more than plausible.

That's what I heard too, house on the right hand side going towards Whitefield.

Bet it was a wrench leaving Whitefield for Monaco ???? Any how he was great fella if not my favourite Bond. RIP.

Hear that myself.  Thought it was gospel . . .

His parents used to live on Beaumont Road

'Clunk' yes, that's the sound of another name drop.

Got to meet him a few times as my old company did a few tours with him. He really was super nice, and very funny/self-depreciating. He just thought he got very, very lucky. His wife was a mutil-millionaire in her own right but would still come with him to all these venues like Watford etc She couldn't have been nicer as well.

When my other half did the press calls with him, he'd still be charming all the PR ladies.

'Glang...glangalangalangalangalang.....'

Someone with more idea of technology post the story about him doing the rounds today. Best I've heard in a while

Sounds like a great bloke. As a kid he was my hero, my generation Bond. Pity more film stars aren't more humble.

1970 film 'The Man Who Haunted Himself'

Great film worth checking out if you've never seen it.

Never recognised at the time (1970) but acknowledged as a classic since.
