You'll probably get your wish in a couple of years. Just watch how long it takes to dump the fuckers.

Whist historically taking the knee has been used as a sign against oppression of minorities, it was highlighted massively (and way before George Floyd) at a variety of sporting events where black athletes , rather than stand proudly with hand on heart for the American national anthem, would kneel defiantly with clenched fist raised. This act brought the symbolism of the act into many households through televised sports programmes.

It looks like some premiership clubs are fucking it off now. Apparently premiership  captains have had a meeting and said it’s lost it’s meaning. I honestly didn’t see that coming 🤥

Probably the right decision. But at the time they thought it was a worthy cause.

Can they not just do the same with Ireland then?

Yes...but you need a 'normal' border then between NI and the rest of the UK or you are basically opening the borders again.

The issue in Ireland is not just the NI to Eire border but it is what happens once they cross. This and years of religion based intolerance. Which is why I do not see how technology can solve it, if we preserve the GFA we have to have controls between NI and UK, or a cost effective way of monitoring the goods once they cross the border. May had a solution that we dismissed, Then we went oven ready that does not work, waiting for version 3.

The UK government solution is green Lane for NI goods no checks and no documentation , and red Lane for Eire goods checks and documentation… but the rule benders when it suits don’t want to play the sensible game because they like the diversion of trade game… plenty brits support and encourage them to play that game at the cost to UK businesses.. then moan because our GDP takes a hit.

the uk government solution was the sea border .

Not sure I understand. I am in Europe I am moving goods into UK/Eire and shipping via Ireland, into Eire I am ok. Those goods are now moving to NI (or a joint shipment) they can move freely to NI as per GFA ?

And people from Eire can move freely across the border into NI ?

Hes still swalliwing the mail/express bullshit

Is the term "Eire" actually still used these days?  -  I remember it used to be used commonly, but they never use it on the news now, I don't think.

It is by me 😂 I think legally it is the Republic of Ireland.

Eire as far as I know is Irish for Ireland.

It’s the Irish word for Ireland and the name of the state.

think the uk government now just say Ireland or the Republic of Ireland where’s previously they insisted on referring to the republic as Eire and refused to call it Ireland to distinguish from Northern Ireland .
Eire is still on coins and stamps etc in Ireland

I think it's just the name of the football team

I see Rees-Mogg admitted he got the checks at Dover 'wrong but for the right reasons' this morning.
