Thank fuck we won't be part of an unelected bureaucrat led socialist federation.

We? Arf... Once more.

And mainstream media!!

Almost a line on Bolty Bullshit Bingo.

There was a Yougov poll a week ago which had a much bigger sample and was 55% against Brexit and the rest was split between for and "don't know" so they've conflated the figures or they've been distorted by the fact that it's a GB News poll. Or "don't know" is short for "I don't know what Brexit actually means or what I was voting for in the first place"

Although Brexiteers voted for different imaginary scenarios anyway.

 They still can't let it go.

It's over. We are never going back. Get over it.

Strangely, the matches you won’t get on a Bolty Bongo Bingo card is any mention of the benefits.

Still parrotting "Project Fear" after everything that's happening? 😁 Atleast Whitesince63 has admitted it's been a massive fuck up and we'd have been better off staying in. What do you think of the new "Swiss-style" arrangement that's being touted?

It has been a massive fuck up Cheese, I don’t think anyone can dispute that and I’m not having any of this “it’s the pandemic,” “it’s Ukraine” shit either. It’s because the politicians are inept, don’t truly believe what they spout and haven’t got the backbone to make tough the decisions needed. If we really are going to leave then leave, fully, completely and have the balls to do it, or if not admit it’s not going to happen and work towards closer ties. It’s this half in half out shit that infuriates people and the fact that nobody’s happy with it.

Which bits of the EU are we still "half in"?

Hahahaha..........like I give a fuck what fromage face thinks. Utter dick. Having said that, I wouldn't include him in the 'we' when referring to WWayers so maybe that is what he meant?

As for you, Welliphant, you should avail yourself of the details of the WA Secessionists and the pieces might fall into place for you.

It says a lot about the Remain campaign when probably the most 'unresovable' issue is the Irish border and the GFA. This was hardly mentioned in the campaign and when it was Leave simply talked about a technology based solution and this was not challenged.
The complacency of the Remain campaign was a real fuck up.

It really should not have been difficult to sort, equivalence was the key, that the EU won't agree to a deal on equivalence tells me they are continuing to use this as a tool to divert trade.

I don’t really think it’s much of a surprise that the polls gone that way. As a “gammon” I’m totally pissed off with what’s so far been delivered. I think many who voted Leave feel that way and that they’ve been royally tucked up by the Tory’s. If this is all we’re going to get then we might as well have stayed in and I think that’s what they’re trying to say. Were they to see the opportunities promised actually being delivered, especially sorting NI and migrant crossings, then I think you’d see a completely different result but I won’t hold my breath on either happening any time soon!! 🥴

Genuine question as I may have mis interpreted what you mean here, but what opportunity to sort NI was Brexit going to achieve?
what needed sorting in NI that was only achievable by Brexit?

or do you mean sorting it out once left and the whole border issue that Brexit caused?

Please explain what "a deal on equivalence" would be?

Spot on.
Of all the parties, only Sinn Fein used the term “brexit means borders “

people in NI voted to remain and was a lot of up front concern around it there, but in general it wasn’t even mentioned in the remain campaign and warnings of it ignored.

Lived in England all my life, and always will. I'm not a deserter like you. 😉

We do not have a solution, 'equivalence' is fine as another sound bite but what does it mean? The GFA works because people and goods move freely and unchecked across the border. Once we are not part of the EU we need to have checks at some point or we treat the Irish border differently than every other border which the loyalists will find unacceptable.

The technology solution has not been developed or delivered as I genuinely do not think it can be solved.

I'm not sure anybody is of the opinion that we are going back are they?

At least Whitesince63 admits it's been a fuck up, a lot of those who voted to leave, still have their head in the sand and won't admit it, if they did, we could try and get it sorted a little bit quicker than it is at present

Come on Cheese, grow up will you and stop trying to make silly comments. We are still tied to the EU under the terms of both the NI Protocol and the Withdrawal Agreement and still have to comply with the ECJ in certain areas. If you want a sensible discussion cut the smart arse shit.

It's a good post that, although some (Mounts & Bolt) won't have it at all  -  sadly, we're in a position that neither leave nor remain wanted

Thank you sweep, at last a sensible comment. That’s the whole point. I’m a fully fledged Brexiteer, always have been since voting no in 1975 and forced into all the treaties by disreputable politicians without ever asking the population whether they wanted it, especially that disgusting toe rag Major who forced Parliament into the most damaging agreement of all. As far as I’m aware we promote democracy in this country but in reality, only when it suits the politicians, exactly as the Brexit vote proves when HoP did everything it could to reject it.

I fully accept where we are is shit but much of that is due to the acceptance of the majority of a rubbish Teresa May deal and complete intransigence on the part of the EU to negotiate sensibly once the UK had voted to leave. Nowhere has this been better identified than through bot the NI border, with 20% of all EU border checks being imposed and financial equivalence to cause as much damage as possible to the UK’s banking system. These are not the actions of friends but an organisation solely intent on creating as much damage as possible to the UK in order to deter other states from doing the same.

The only way any of those things can be conclusively resolved is either a United Ireland, or the Republic of Ireland also leaving the EU. Neither of which are ever going to happen.

What happened to your old username by the way? Did you forget the password?

Equivalence means recognising that standards of products are equivalent and would allow goods to move freely from North to South. I was talking to a Dublin based customer last week, he said he bought goods from UK company who have a product made in the EU and shipped to UK business, he had to pay duty on the goods increasing his cost by 12 percent, that money goes to the central EU cash pot, the situation is utterly ridiculous, and the blame lies in Brussels.

Allowing free movement would set a precedent though surely?

What's stopping another country wanting the same with someone on their border?

Would defeat the object of being in the EU
