The best bit - and make no mistake, the key bit for the Tories - is the notion that all the gas and oil we find will be sold only in Britain.

“Powering Britain from Britain” is the logo.

To the jawing, Boris slags up and down the land who read the Mail and have the iq of a tapioca pudding, this means “fuck forriners, we’ll cook our baked beans with propper British Gas”

To anyone with a brain capable of independent thought, we know it’s not even close to the truth.

But, a vote is a vote. They only have to make a cross.

Aye. It's a bit like the Brexit mantra "We should stop importing/exporting food, and just grow our own!", completely ignoring the facts that we relied on foreign workers to do all the work and our climate is completely different to the countries we import food from.

Why aren’t Tory voters leaping to their defence about the drilling licenses?

It’s total madness & is indefensible, but people will still try. There are so many job opportunities in a transition to renewables.

I’ve mixed views on carbon capture, granted I don’t know enough about how it works and I’m not an engineer. Most experts in this field have also had their research funded by the big oil & gas companies.

They seem to welcome this trial of carbon capture & it’s clearly worth trying. But there are some key issues with this project that have baffled the experts.

- it’s not happening on existing projects.

- there’s no guarantee deal on how much needs to be captured, so these new licenses will create huge emissions and it’s up to the companies on how much they try to capture.

- it’s tax payer funded, when these companies have made massive profits in recent years.

another one swallowing govt shite

The government has directed Greater Manchester to meet legal limits for nitrogen dioxide on local roads “in the shortest possible time” and by 2026 at the latest.

We aim to clean up the air we all breathe through an investment-led Clean Air Plan that does not include a charging Clean Air Zone.

Didn’t Burnham and his folk take the Govt. to task about their insistence the CAZ applied to the whole of GM?

I imagine inside the M60 circle would suffice. Unfortunately this would be seen as a straight replacement for the failed congestion charge which went to referendum in 2008 and saw a 79% vote against it.

Exactly

Shell and BP have announced £30bill quarterly profits, which they say are needed for investing into green energy projects.

Yet they need help from the taxpayer?

maybe it’s time we all bought BP shares and invested in new BMW’s instead.

I’m sure it will all trickle down to the rest of us soon enough.

“Hello is that the President of Tonga ? It’s wishy washy from the UK here. No you can’t mine coal or extract oil and gas because otherwise you will be under water by 2060. Yes we are giving new licences to operators in the UK but that’s different because we don’t need to keep our targets and our economy is much bigger than yours. Maybe see you at the next summit”

I see the term 'MSM' has been replaced by 'The Establishment' in angry gammon land.

Farage still running rings round Coutts.

Can any of the Tory voters on here explain why Rishi Sunak keeps saying that new oil and gas licenses will be “our own” gas?

He’s clearly suggesting that we’ll be the only ones using it.

But it’s not true. It never has been.

I’d love to know what Tory voters think. Is he just lying, or is he thicker as mince?

This shouldn’t be legal.

Radio Scotland also asked him a genuine question about his private jet to Aberdeen. To which he responded with a mad rant about people going on hard earned holidays. Which had nothing to do with the original question about the ministerial code.

He’s a twat. Who works for oil & gas, not the British public.

It will be back to the great Dinghy invasion soon enough.

Is that how you’ve understood his words? I heard the same speech and thought “our own” meant sourced from land below our own waters and we’ll use what we need to use and will be able to sell any excess.

I’m not a Tory apologist but it just goes to show how two different folk understand the same thing differently.

He'd better get cracking on re-Nationalising the Gas and Oil Industries then...

Or maybe him and his wife have bought lots of gas-industry shares and by “our own” he actually meant “his own”

We can’t do that.
