I suspect Paul is correct. We are skint as fuck.

Maybe we should put taxes up and see how that goes down?

We have a low productivity, low growth stagnant economy and insist on writing cheques we can no longer cash. We really are no longer Billy Big Boots on the World Stage.

Reality check now urgently required. Make certain children have breakfasts and old people dignified homes firstly please.

I dont think this money is intended for tanks

Much more likely itll go on cyber stuff

That where we face the biggest threats to our daily lives

We certainly should be pouring a lot of the money we have into the cyber threat posed against us

But in terms of military spending then, for want of a better of a better phrase, in hard terms, the priority should be the protection of the seas around our island

So

are we actually spending LESS on the military then?

¿And giving MORE to Señor Juan de Extranjero?

Refreshing isn’t it. Seeing a government  that actually does  things 👀

Fair play to the toy maker. It’s a start! Now to get a grip of those parents who are sending their kids to school without a meal in them.

Credit where credit is due. On this one, well done Sir Keir. I know the catalyst was the big man in DC but nevertheless impressive that money is coming off foreign aid to increase defensive capabilities.

Heard a little about this; so spending cuts or tax increases will be required.

Nevertheless, it is good news.

Just need to get on with the extra funding immediately.

2027 is the start date

Good news for the company I work for... we've always got a few defence jobs on the go and they piss the money like it's going out of fashion... you wouldn't believe how the MoD can waste money on infrastructure!

As I said earlier, there's a real danger if you give them more money to spend (especially in a hurry) the more inefficient they will become... we did a six figure job last year and after the Unit's CO had inspected we were jack-hammering away the next day as it all had to be re-configured... happy days 😆

Happens on virtually every contract.

Same for this new company I work for, as we supply loads of shit to defence customers in UK and France, so hopefully the French will increase their spend as well (I believe they spend an even smaller amount of GDP than we do)

...it's like the NHS, nobody cares about the price, and they get absolutely rinsed, time and time again.

Tories cut army personnel by 30k between 2010 and 2024.  Yes It’s refreshing to see a government doing positive things now.

I guess the tories didn’t plan on invading any countries in the time they were in 😉

Speaking of positive things how are they getting on with the reduction in energy costs?

They didn’t plan anything except lining their own pockets

We don't actually "rinse" anybody... we build new toilet blocks, the CO didn't like them as they have too many disabled and he didn't like the colours so out it all comes... every job they change things late in the day and it has a cost.

Starting some office refurbs soon... just know how that is going to go!

Given the push towards EVs, we'll need to get power from somewhere, and quickly, so every little bit helps I guess

Wind Turbines have been a bit shit this last few months, as we've either had too much wind, or not enough, for them to work

Anybody, over the age of about 16 who has an iPhone needs a word with themselves anyway

Edit: @Big Ehas one, what more proof is required?

Oh, I don't know

The tech giant has suggested the issue with its Dictation service has been caused by a problem it has distinguishing between words with an "r" in them.

one reason they get turned off is cos they feed the grid and theres not enough grid capacity

or something :)

expert woman says its costing over a billion to pay for them to be off and will be rising massively to 9 billion pdq
