You have to phone at a certain time, and spend hours waiting for an answer, then get an appointment weeks later? Any cunt with half a brain cell knows that's not how health works. It's early days, but common sense seems to be prevailing again. it'll never catch on 😉 I'm certainly no fan of Labour, but credit where it's due, this lot (to me) seem to be doing a half decent job so far Quote

Dimron Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 I miss our village doctor... now retired, you could actually speak to him when walking in the street and he'll say "come in and I'll look at it for you" or something like that... he knew everyone, I was once chatting to him about gardening and he said "excuse me but there's Mrs so and so, she lost her husband 6 months ago, I need to go and chat with her and make sure she's getting out and doing okay"... he drove the local NHS management mad... I was once in his consulting room for over half an hour, bugger the ten minutes... he did it all the time, as his young replacement said... he was very old fashioned but his diagnosis was always spot on! He saw his work as a calling and had practiced here since leaving the army. Quote
Not in Crawley Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Most GPs nowadays spit at you in the street I believe. Quote
royal white Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Where on earth are folk living? People getting excited about online appointments (pretty much the norm in most civilised places) and the forum clown believing that Drs are being spat on. 🤷🏻 Quote

frank_spencer Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Can book online for ours for a routine appointment in a months time. Anything else more urgent it's ring at 8am and be on hold for bloody ages. TBF to ours you'll at least get a phone appointment which if needed will arrange an out of hours appointment in Bury TC medical center. Quote
kent_white Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 The point is that in some GPs you can book online and at others you can't. So that's a health inequality - and we should be offering a similar service no matter which practice you're at. Much of the work in primary care is about improving unfair variations (like this one). Pre-election I thought Reeves was probably a good 'un but now I see she really is a wannabe chancing her arm without any real worldly experience... time is very close for her to say "thank you and good night"... she had a go but wasn't ready Quote

Nowack Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 Not sure what's going on but watching Laura Kuensberg I thought Starmer was excellent but even more surprising so was Piers Morgan. Quote
