As I mentioned it I’ll reply. I specifically said to not compare with the USA.
How about every other country in Europe? Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Switzerland? etc. etc.

The left would have you believe I'm right wing, the right would have you believe I'm a left, in truth I'm very very central,  both sides annoy me.

I'm the same fella,  I'm with Unite the Union. Said it previously on here and quite recently, the so called left are actually swaying more to the right. It’s an absolute shit show to be frank

There's no more mayhem than there has been for the last 15 years or so. Just a continuation really.

Not really arsed about this woman. I would have been if this had been uncovered and she hadn't resigned, but surely the fact that she felt compelled to shows the opposite of hypocrisy? From the Govt at least (if not her)?

Well, what a surprise

There's no doubt it's somewhat bloated, and far from efficient, and it needs streamlining, I'd still want it kept in some form, not completely "fucked off" as Bolty wants though. I'd always want at least a basic level of free at point of use emergency care and necessary procedures. What I'm not sure I agree with is, procedures done for vanity reasons. I know of two recent operations, one for a girl to have her ears pinned back, and another girl to have a gastric band fitted.....both on the NHS, they should be done privately.

It's only a matter of time until bits of it do start to be sold off anyway (IMO), if Reform win the next GE, I suspect they'll speed that process up. Depending how it's handled, that may or may not be a bad thing

A reasoned response. You need a 'fuck it off' mentality to get the ball rolling properly though. Streamlining for efficiency would need to be swingeing IMO.

Never had a problem here. Costs us the equivalent of around 2,250 quid per annum based on todays exchange rate. The level of service is top drawer. I have three first class hospitals within walking distance.

I'm arsed about the consistency of hypocrisy in that party. It has always been thus. Their avenue to the 'how the other half live' lifestyle then they start to feather their nests and adopt an 'I'm alright Jack' mentality.

There are many fools around who believe that they stand up for the working class. Nowhere near. Their route to getting their snouts in the trough and that is all.

I’ve just spent 5 days in hospital and can only assume the cost will have run into the many thousands.

The treatment I received was world class and the only expenditure was a bottle of water from a vending machine.

The staff were excellent.

I’d hate to be without the NHS

Yep. I think Germany and many others the same. There was an article about it on the BBC site we discussed a few years ago. I’ll see if I can dig it out. 👍

Found it.

Give over mate 😁 It's the same whoever is in. You get some good ones and some bad ones. The idea is to be transparent and to weed the bad ones out. Which is what's happened here.

I'd be much more concerned if KS was backing her or refused her resignation. Things like this seemed to go on every day when the Tories were in charge (largely unchallenged on here).

The girl in talking about, who had had the weight loss surgery, she eventually decided to do something, when she collapsed with respiratory problems, had to get an ambulance and was in hospital for several days. She should have been left to die.

Obviously being the size she was, she hadn't worked for years, so was also on benefits. She didn't become circa 30 stone overnight. It was all self inflicted, and now the NHS is covering how ever much it costs to try and fix her. It's a disgrace

From a moral perspective, I'd agree with your stance on personal responsibility. From a hard nosed economic perspective you've made a really good case above why she should have the surgery on the NHS - multiple admissions, visits etc. The respiratory issue sounds like she's a pretty extreme case, diabetes is the classic one.

It would save far more money if she'd been left to die though

Only if you tell her she can't come in when she rocks up at a&e with complications of diabetes.

Now that is a case for surgical removal... no anaesthesia, just a rusty saw and don't stop at the belly

Right, it seems the Chagos deal isn't going to cost three and a half billion after all.

Actually, it's 35 billion.

I thought they'd kicked Abbott out?

No it isn't.

This lot hoodwink the gullible into paying their union fees and voting Labour by 'marketing' themselves as the party for the working class. They are anything but.

The other lot usually look you in the eye and tell you they are going to shaft you rather than stabbing you in the back.

Hopefully the duopoly breaker will get in next time.
