Not too sure about that one...

Labour have a Mayor in Manchester, Conservatives have Teeside ... both doing their job, Reform have Jenkins in Lincolnshire who struts around in sequins singing pathetic songs...

Not sure this will have an effect on a GE result mate. I was referring to the build up to the next GE. Maybe we are at cross purposes?

This is why politics is falling apart though. People nail their colours to the mast of parties like Reform and then dig their heels, put their fingers in their ears and demonise anybody that doesn't agree with them. It's a poor state of affairs. I suppose all parties are guilty of that to a certain extent - but it seems more prevalent the more extreme the party goes.

I think it’s more down to the fact that successive governments have ignored the will of the people and generally done a pretty piss poor job.

Folk that weren’t that arsed about politics are now getting more involved for that reason I think.

Can you give an example of a "will of the people" that's been ignored?

Immigration.

It's not been 'ignored' though has it. It's all anyone talks about. It's why we left the EU, which ironically made the situation worse. What solution do you think would satisfy "the people"?

It's not been ignored but thousands a week are still crossing and the optics are terrible.

It's not been dealt with. We all know that's what the brexit vote was about, so the will of the people has not been granted, that was CWs point.

Well I asked CumbrianWhite for one that was ignored as that's what he claimed. 🤷‍♂️

I don't think the will in question was for immigration to be talked about

What is "the will" then? If it's just to "stop it", then can one of you describe your preferred method?

Unfortunately under our 19th Century version of democracy the "will of te people" is only considered every few years and then bundled with dozens of other policies.

Other democracies have evolved towards "deliberative democracy" where citizens are drawn together into forums to respectfully set the major agenda... of course this will never catch on in our Westminster focused system of autocratic control

I suspect the will @CumbrianWhite is referring to is the will for a reduction

Yes, I suspect it is. How?

You'll have to wait for his response

But granting fewer visas would do it

I don't think the small boat folk are issued Visa's on the beaches of France, and they seem to be by far the biggest target of all the anger. And why would people who've been issued a Visa be considered a problem? I thought illegal immigration was the elephant in the room? Even Bolty has stated as such...

The small boat folk aren't, no

But you asked me a question about how immigration could be reduced and I gave you an example

Ok. Well, I'll assume CumbrianWhite was talking about illegal immigration and await his thoughts.

I think this is the right approach on protests:

She's been quite impressive so far in my opinion

Whether the proposals would stand up to a legal challenge is another question, but still, the intention is good

I suspect that Cumbrian White may be losing 'the will' to live after jousting with that buffoon.

You can dance around all you want. Your bleating will change absolutely nothing. The die is cast.

Had the synagogue attacker been issued a visa? That might answer one of your incessant contrary questions.

I would be totally against going back into the Europe that has metamorphised since we left, we're better out of it

Really does amaze me this. To be as weak as piss as he is with a so called landslide majority from one third of the electorate is mind boggling.

His missus must decide what clothes he will wear every day. Otherwise he'd U turn himself into a state of near vertigo.

I don't think he is weak as piss. He's doing some decent (albeit not headline grabbing) work.

You know, the kind of thing that eventually leads to a better country. As opposed to talking about immigrants eating swans, or parking the Royal Navy in the English Channel but not allowing them to intervene.

A sustained period of boring, but effective in the elong term is exactly what we need.

But we won't get it because of the (dare I say) screechers - who just want an easy answer to the problems their voting patterns have already caused.

Just watching Mel Stride at the Tory conference claiming that the Conservatives are the party of fiscal responsibility 🤣

Publicly gaslighting the nation! 🫡
