52,000 less unemployed this month, most of the EU would kill for unemployment around 4% were doing alright.

Yeah, there's jobs and there's "jobs" paying £8 an hour. Wages are falling, that's what bothers me most.

And there's me thinking that 'pensions are not a benefit' would be the most ridiculous thing I'd read today.  Never had anything given to you? Your generation were able to buy property on 3x an a

This website really has gone to the dogs

If you can't say anything nice.......

That's not how Nigel sees it....

he's as deluded as my friend mounts

Falling and were still in the EU might be better out of it then? When we can reduce immigration and stop shipping in too many unskilled Eastern Europeans, now there is a thought.

Might? That's a massively persuasive argument.

When do we come out of the other side then? Not being funny but I need to retire in about 20 years.

I'm surprised that you want to work until you're 70

:)

Ooh you sound just like Jeremy Corbyn! :-)

Do we ship them in?

I'm sat here with 2 skilled ones, paying MADMAX over here.

it doesn't matter where they come from, we need them and will continue to bring them into the country, the plus side I suppose will be that we might actually vet them on the way in, which currently we don't do (even though we could now, but we choose not to). To imply that we won't need, on an ongoing basis, a mass of unskilled workers is far off the mark though

Who's implying we don't need them? I'm implying that more unskilled workers drives wages down.

I agree they do, but no matter if we are "in or out" the number of them coming to this country will still continue to increase year on year, so you would expect our wages to continue to stagnate

Think you'll be ok, when we come out of the other side when deals all sorted I'm confident you'll be thinking was that it.

How long will we have to wait for all these deals to done n dusted and for the UK to be much better off?

There's hope for you yet Mounts lad! Return to the loving embrace of your true socialist roots like the prodigal son :-)

That's it? You are banking everything on this one economist being right?

But if an economist produces a report worrying its all going to shit, its part of Project Fear.

I'm not banking on him as it's first time I'd heard of him tonight.

The real point is that nobody knows what it will be like on the other side

mostly, it's been ok in the long run, so it'll probably be ok

So we have a pile of ifs buts and maybes versus stability, does that seem like a great trade to you?

I wish someone would sell some kind of coherent vision for us to get behind. I'm all for getting behind one but we don't have one.

How strange

We are trading one not known future for another one!

But, it'll probably work out about the same

Staying put in the EU, although far from perfect, offers us economic stability. We have just come through financial turmoil since 2007 and now we have to chuck it all up and head into the another decade of uncertainty.

Oh yes the EU is really stable at the moment isn't it.

Far from perfect, as you say, so I'd rather the optimistic outlook for a Great Britain without the corrosive, stultifying, anchor of a bureaucratic EU.

No need to fear
