Don't forget the Napoleonic wars as well you silly old twat.

Thankfully Bolty hasn't forgotten what made Britain what it was, unfortunately some of today's Lily livered apologists have lost those attributes. Keep up the good work Bolty.????????????

Would we have won the Second World War without the help from nations currently within the EU?

Did we also fight the Napoleonic wars alone?

Some would have you believe we did it totally unassisted, I actually know somebody who reckons the Americans didn't really help very much, and it's only Hollywood that has played up their part

Is it not time to stop harping back to WW2 when we're talking about the EU? - it might just be me, but it does sound a bit Dads Army.

FFS, don't panic.

Well they're fucking stupid then. You should know though, as I am sure you do, that we were the one nation (admittedly with the huge advantage of the English Channel separating us from the mainland) who stood up to tyranny and there was a significant time there where we were on our own (other than token resistance movements in occupied countries) so it is fair to say that for a couple of years we were virtually totally unassisted.

If the Japs hadn't bombed Pearl Harbour who knows how much American help would have arrived. Some would have to be crazy to deny though that US forces and money were a major factor in the ultimate victory.

Knobspankers like Farrelli bringing up the Napoleonic war is just another example of attempted deflection. Maybe he is one of NIC's limited intellect playthings incapable of seeing the connection between German domination of Europe by force in the late 30's and early 40's to German domination of the EU by the economic machinery of the failed political experiment he seems to be so enamoured with.

Merely a demonstration that he isn't the only one who can throw out insults.

At least Sweep got a titter our of it.

Bolty, as a fairly erudite chap who knows and likes his history, you might enjoy the book that I'm currently reading

D Day through German Eyes (book 2) by Holger Eckhertz

It's amazing to hear about the D Day landings from some of those in the German bunkers. Really interesting to hear their thoughts at the time on the war (massively brainwashed)

Highly recommended

I know you'll say they're part of the empire but ANZAC, Canada and India did their bit to be fair.. Russia win us the war thankfully.

I'm still not convinced by Brexit, it looked like it would be a disaster for my generation that would slowly find it's feet, the negotiations haven't changed my mind. Europeans seem streets ahead of the British team.

True I think...still, it matters not, as we did win

That's if you believe the media bullshit spin. We're waiting for the EU to catch up seems it'll be December.

Is that what we're calling experts now?

Ps I honestly hope you're right

I love my history and for me the war was won on both the east and western fronts. Quite simply the Germans couldn't fight both fronts. The weather on the east fucked them and they couldn't beat us in the battle of Britain. Lots of colonial and polish support in the RAF for this. Brave men

Not as gormless as bringing up something 70+ years ago. You are a dinosaur.

If you were to go through the EU country by country I think you'll find most were under German occupation.

With the honourable exception of the Polish pilots, and resistance movements in some countries, not many were effective on the Allied side.

Cyprus and Malta were under British rule, although Malta was blockaded by Italy for the first half of the war.

Ireland, Sweden, Portugal and Spain (sort of) were neutral.

The Baltic countries were conquered by the SU, Finland resisted and so for a time supported Germany, having opposed them at both the start and end of the conflict.

Do we ignore everything that happened 70 years ago?

Asking for a Jewish friend of mine.

Of course not but it is irrelevant to Brexit and the EU in 2017.

You could add the Southern front to that and the Germans ambitions in North Africa. To say that Russia won the war is absurd. The simple fact is that Hitler, thankfully, spread his forces too far.

After his failed attempt to defeat GB, he then then turned his priority towards Russia. The weather, as you say was the decider. If he'd have attacked 6 months earlier or 6 months later then it would have been a different outcome.

WE didn't defeat the Nazis, the Allied forces did.

History is always relevant. It's probably why we are where we are now.

Mounts, honest question, of which I hope you give an honest answer....

Do you still believe that we "hold all the cards" or not?

doesn't matter if you have changed your mind, but very few "leavers" will admit that things are more different now than they where 12 months ago
