Video Assistant Referee

I know there's a thread about this but I can't find it.

Watching the Stuttgart Vs Cologne match on BT. Ref has had to use the VAR on a penalty decision late in the game. He ended up reversing his decision and not awarding the pen to Cologne. Took nearly 4 mins from the original penalty to the drop ball. Even then there was still a debate to be had that it was a penalty. This will suck then life out if the game, and the terraces, if this is how it's going to be.

If VAR was made by Uriah Rennie I'd support it.

  • Do you reckon we can we get them to look at the over the line incident from the opening game at the reebok?

The game has had the life took out of it already no tackling hardly any contact I’m from the old school , a good man and ball was as good as a good goal

TV replays regularly show a difference of opinion between 'experts'. VAR is no different.

In my opinion the refs decision is final.

Assuming of course he has the balls to stand up to the big clubs and give a honest decision.

On a slightly different tack I like the citing rule in RU and think this could eradicate a lot of cheating if the culprits were sufficiently banned when found guilty.

Goal in the spurs game ruled offside and VAR agreed with his call. Pictures show level. The system don't work and for me experiment didnt work

But the var folk know they will be scrutinised by the tv pundits so have to get it right

VAR being used to call back players from half time break to take a penalty at a game in Germany.

Complete and utter fuckin shambles.

How can anyone still be behind this?

That's ridiculous. What would happen at full time when thousands have left?

Time to start a fresh football set up. Invite the fa to switch allegiance, sod fifa and the corrupt fuckers and bring some semblance of normality and common sense back to the game.

It's utter nonsense to me, unfortunately seems like most in the game still want it, what do fans know?

It’s gonna fuck up big style at the World Cup.

Someone is gonna fall foul of it.

The refs from the other nations are always bad enough never mind shoving this in to the mix.

Not sure there's going to be a world cup; or at least one where all players are happy to go.

I know your'e supposed to keep sport and politics separate, but surely there's going to be a degree of discomfort, especially with our lot, players are human after all. (Except perhaps Russians)

It's a handball under current rules, but they need to be changed, there's no way that was deliberate, 7 minutes wasted, we'll be watching 3 hour games if this carries on.

Drama I can do without.

What happens at full time?

Imagine a goal mouth scramble, backs to the wall style in the last minute of game. Ball booted clear, refbows and place goes nuts.

Then VAR spots something and players are pulled back on for a penalty.

I can’t believe not more is being done to stop this happening.

It’s going to kill the game.

Do you reckon we can we get them to look at the over the line incident from the opening game at the reebok?

Check the date

haha i knew id read it a few weeks ago but never clicked. then when i was posting it i thought 'this cant be can it?' but just couldnt be arsed checking. more fool me

Final nail in the coffin of football.

It's actually killing the excitement of the game, I'm getting pissed off with the whole thing now.

VAR is dreadful. Football is already sterile enough without this but to check all sorts of goals, offsides etc it’s becoming a joke. Get rid of it

There was just a pen given by var in the flatdick game for "handball" . Shit was ridiculous.

I have no idea why I'm watching this tbh

Women just got a penalty via VAR

England's left back looks like she's going straight out after the game

VAR wasnt the issue with that

The issue is what is being classed as handball

Gonna get to the point where fans won’t celebrate a goal until the balls back on the centre spot

It wasn't a penalty with the new rules but it was given after VAR
