Therein lies our problem. The vast majority of players who do leave us end up 1 or 2 divisions down

to be fair to Oztumer, he's proven himself in League One, but not really had a chance to show what he can do at Championship level

hopefully he'll still be with us next season, we'll probably need him

I hope whoever comes in keeps Ken on as Chief Executive.

keeping the place running smoothly

None of ours left.

Doidge went back to the club that held his registration.

Semantics...

Doidge has 7 goals from 10 games in League One this season.

Evans has scored 12 in 24.

We’d have saved ourselves a lot of pissing about if we’d just kept Tom Eaves (15 in 27).

All Div1 players at best. Can't hack it in the Championship.

They'd be in good company

It would be interesting to see Doidge and Oz playing a few games for a Norwich or Leeds.

Get a better idea of their real ability.

Norwich and Leeds could have signed either. If they wanted. They didn't. For a reason.

Doidge is in League 2.

Oztumer was at Charlton waiting to sign, but because we couldn't get Evans, Charlton couldn't get Oz.

Then Evans scores v Charlton on Saturday.

And Clarke who we were also after set one up and scored one for Wigan,  that is the one signing we should have tried harder for, think that he chose WIgan has sealed our Fate.

Ooh, a word thread. Not had one for ages.

Atlantics

Doesn't matter what league Doidge is in, he goes back to a former manager who has confidence in him and plays him as an outright striker with support, and he starts to score goals again, think that is quite telling to be honest.

Is it? He’d already shown he could score goals in League Two so him picking up where he left off is hardly a surprise. It doesn’t mean he was good enough for the Championship, even if we didn’t play to his strengths.

Mind you, the last one ‘not good enough for this level’ was Adam Armstrong, and he seems to have made a fair fist of things elsewhere.

This is the point i made elsewhere. We're only ever going to be in the market for cast offs and lower league players, and it seems none of the strikers PP brings in do much.

Other clubs do bring in such players and they make a go of it.

do they?

my gut feeling is they dont, but might be way off

who are you thinking of?

And I’m still not having it that Parky signs the players.

Blackburn; as he's already pointed out with Armstrong. Also Dack.

I also read recently that Millwall have utilised lower league players (dunno who as they weren't named )ok they're not world beaters but they're keeping themselves out of trouble.

With more research I'm sure you could find plenty.

Ultimately it comes back to PP. If they are shit, then why bother with them. If not, why can't he get them playing?

I do accept the suggestion he may not have brought them in, but Ken says he did so that's that put to bed.

strikers are the issue, here

dack and armstrong are not in the pond we are fishing in....dack was .75 million and armstrong, fee unknown but a 4 year deal!

fwiw, i liked armstrong but he wasnt pushing madine out

millwall, their mainstays are that grey haired mon and the fella from halifax, who have both been there forever

they also got elliot from wimbledon, who we were after

i dont actually think he gets many games but he chose them, anyway

i honestly cant think of any strikers in this league who havent cost decent money, be it fees or wages

and lets be honest, they all get better offers than we can make

i did think maupauy might fit the bill, but even he cost 2 million from france

we are skint and we sign the shit that nobody else wants - even oztumer, he was in the best position of his career to get a good move

why did he end up at bolton, it certainly wasnt for the money

No disputing the money point.

I'm just not sure, even with the money to buy these players that our mon would get the best out of them.

Not really, his confidence must have been shot and yet he is playing and doing what a striker should do. PP eother didn't play him, or played him as a front one, when he is a striker that scored most of his goals either playing off another or got decent service. FWIW I think both him and magennis could be good strikers at this level, they just need a manager that plays to their strength, and I have seen nothing in PP to suggest he knows how to play to them

I think when you say this level, you mean this division in the 90s or something. All our forwards are fucking miles off.

Was just thinking it had been a while since HMRC served a winding-up order on us.
