May 25, 20188 yr Nixon tweeted last night that we've offered Alnwick a new contract. No surprise - other than I'd forgotten he was out of contract!! Need to sort that one. Nixon said Sunderland had been interested but it had gone quiet.

May 25, 20188 yr He’s off to Blackburn Why? Blackburn's owners have set their wage bill at £12M. That is what ours is, so can't be for money.

May 25, 20188 yr well, if they are offering more money it would be Seems unlikely to be substantially more given their desire to cap wages to the same level ours is at. Longer contract maybe. But again Blackburn aren't in a substantially different position to us financially. I'd be disappointed if we lost him there. Sunderland might be a different matter if they use their parachute payments for longer deals and he's from up that way.

Higher wage Longer contract Bigger bonuses All a reasons that he could choose to leave - I'm not actually saying that any of them are true, but any or all of them might be Even if Blackburn have set their wage bill at £12M, that's not to say that they couldn't offer him 50% or 100% more of a wage - perhaps we've offered an amount that he sees as insulting
May 25, 20188 yr Maybe he feels they are better equipped To stay up this year than we are and is thinking about his future and playing career.

May 25, 20188 yr maybe just maybe any slight improvement in contract if any isn't the main reason behind the decision. He may feel there is a better opportunity there to continue to play at this level or progress.
May 25, 20188 yr Pity about Karacan wrong place wrong team etc I know some on here love Pratley but please get shut .Cant see it mind Parky likes him would offer Henry another year though. Think Buckley will come good despite his inability to hit a cows arse with a banjo last season. Pratley is an odd one for me. Never been massively impressed, but at times he does seem to come good. To hear him speak he seems quite a down to earth bloke and quite passionate; maybe useful to have around if some younger guys come through.

Think Pratley will be missed more & more when he eventually goes. A lot of his work is unnoticed and under appreciated at times. been with us a long time now and along with Wheater has gone through the many ups and downs and legitimately cares for the club. not sure whether there is room for both him & Henry moving forward. However i think they both deserve another 12 months..tough one

May 25, 20188 yr At decent money, i'd keep Pratley for another year. Likewise Henry. However at 33 and 35 (36 in November) we are in desperate need of another few pairs of fresh legs. Hopefully we can tie down Sammy, Wheater and Beevers.
May 25, 20188 yr Id keep Pratley if the wages were right. There are twats on twatter up in arms that derik has left and at the same time are calling for Pratley to be released
May 25, 20188 yr Id keep Pratley if the wages were right. There are twats on twatter up in arms that derik has left and at the same time are calling for Pratley to be released Derik was absolutely dreadful. Were he homegrown from Bolton he'd be the absolute whipping boy for those fans.
May 25, 20188 yr Another one that rates pratley. We are a better team with him in it. Likeable bloke as well. On the other hand I wonder what his thoughts are about signing for us looking back?
May 25, 20188 yr i would lose both and start again personally but i am feeling risky this window Investment is critical to that though even though Ken has said there will be money regardless, it will still be shoe string
May 25, 20188 yr i would lose both and start again personally but i am feeling risky this window Both Pratley and Henry are good pros, keeping them on makes sense even if we do strength sufficiently in that area. Come Dec/Jan, when the season starts to take its toll, both players can be reliable upon to come in and do a job. I know these aren't exciting signings but better that than punts on players surplus to requirements at other clubs coming in and playing the odd game and being bombed to the stiffs until the end of the season - al Charsley, Walker, Kirchoff, Clough & Obasi. May 25, 20188 yr Pratley’s house was put up for sale about 8 weeks ago. It is now completely empty and 3 cars gone. He may have just rented it though and decided to settle long term in Halliwell...
May 25, 20188 yr I'd definitely keep Henry, but with Pratley, it would depend on him accepting quite a pay cut.......my guess would be that he'd try to find a better deal elsewhere, fail, then try to sign the deal offered here but too late & finish up in div 1, probably Blackpool. If Pratley, Derik, Karacan & Kirchoff, are gone, it's going to leave us short of holding midfielders ( maybe King can step up ) but the priority for any money we've got, must be for a target man forward, & then a creative midfield player and/or a fast striker. Defensively, we'll probably have to try & patch up with frees & loanees again
