I agree, we'll still be paying lower wages than most everybody else in the division unless something huge happens, I would have thought. Hopefully we can get some business done early, otherwise we'll be fighting over the dregs. I suspect even Blackburn and Wigan will have bigger budgets than us next season

 Along with a target man, a creative midfield player would be top of my wish list. I wouldn't be looking at McGoldrick. He's been a good player but is now in the same bracket as Buckley & Noone......past his best.

 

The 2 i'd like that are vaguely realistic financially & young enough to get better are Oztumor..only 26 & out of contract this summer,  & Camp at Rochdale...only 22, local, but under contract until 2020.

It's a real difficult line to tread...either the proven player whose probably fading or the younger player who may just make it. Both are the markets we will be shopping in. 

 

Camps is a case in point - very highly rated but most Rochdale season ticket holders I know say he didn't have a great season overall and that is in league 1 (certainly faded). We would still be getting potential.

Sometimes players respond to playing in a higher league with better(ish) players.

That's for the management/scouting team to find out.

If Parky and Anderson are taking us forward Chungy and Jutkiewicz would be top of my list, if big money is coming in we will have to set our sights a little higher

That Doyle we were on for scored a few for a struggling Oldham side and would likely be available for very little.

Whoever we do sign, with whatever money we have to play with, needs to lower the age profile and speed us up big style. We need pace in virtually every area of the pitch.

 

We can stand one or two with age not on their side but with the know how of Henry, what we can't stand is seven or eight the wrong side of 30 whose legs are going.

 

Somebody who likes being on the ball and wants to pass it forward would be massive asset, as would at least one central defender who's got the confidence and ability to make a 20 yard pass into midfield. Younger, more mobile replacement for Madine the obvious other necessity.

 

It'll all hinge on the budget, and I can see a window where we end up doing too much business at the death because takeover talks drag on over the summer

Juke has been revitalised under Monk at Birmingham, so he won't be coming, but Chungy would be a great signing.....I'm surprised he's still only 29 when he seems to have been around for such a long time.

Do you know what his illness was? Something a solid preseason wouldn't sort?

Sadly, I agree. He'll look better in a ball playing midfield.

not a good enough player at this level in my opinion. can only remember two decent performances from him.

He’s a better footballer than any of the other midfielders, would have been miles better playing him than Buckley. Villa away, Sunderland home and Sheffield Wednesday in the cup he was our best player. Can’t remember many other times you’d give a midfielder mom in the season.

 

Always going to get released and we do need better but he’s miles away from our biggest problem

Karacan was never suited to our style of play. His previous career suggests a decent Championship player in a fluent passing team. I doubt he'll find a Championship club now but I hope he gets a progressive League 1 club. Forever remembered for that first goal against Peterborough last season.

Karacan was excellent at Port Vale last year. Went missing a lot for me, but he definitely played his part against Sunderland. Wish him well. Wouldn’t have kept him on.
