Manager

What we thinking ?

Parky out or give him next season?

I'm not convinced. Just can't see how he will progress us. With or without funds.

Anyone for the country bumpkin Holloway?

Don't like the bloke but he's certainly a better manager than parky.

I think piss poor is overstatement he’s played more games than anyone else and the alternative would have been Dervite or Burke who can’t defend to save their lives.

He might have played more games and the alternatives in Dervite & Burke no better but Beevers was fucking shite this season.

I'd be very worried if he was our 1st choice CB for the majority of next season.

He's limited but I don't think half as bad as made out. He plays better with Wheater and I think suffered in Wheater not being properly fit second half of the season.

He's plenty limited, one of the poorest in the squad with the ball at his feet, a total lack of pace and no longer seems capable of using his frame and strength against forwards like he did in L1.

Its a no for me. Wheater needs a more mobile partner alongside him.

Factor into it Wheater's injuries and i'd hope we'd be looking to sign two new CB for next season.

Fear not jack Ross st Mirren manager seems to be a serious contender for Sunderland job

Agree 100%. Beevers was one of our top 5 performers all season admittedly that’s not saying a lot but fans sticking boot in should be looking elsewhere for a scapegoat perhaps it’s because he had such a great season last year and also that he has no one one in middle of park who he can play a 3 yard pass too meaning he has to play long ball all season.

He's a centre back, who cares, especially in our position?

Certainly need to think what we do at CB. I'd not be unhappy for two new CBs to come in, but we need a lot of players in.

I also think that Beevers is better than Wheater...Wheater can raise himself to have a majestic game every now and then, but age is definitely catching up with him and to me he was more exposed than Beevers.

Beevers is a decent defender just draws attention to his limitations when he launches the ball everytime he has possesion gets found out by the better players in this league but not on his own there eh ?

Zero pace, zero composure on the ball and zero awareness of strikers moving in and around him. The amount of goals we conceded, especially in the run in where they got in front of him was frightening

Can head a ball all day long and covers the front post well when balls are coming in.

Depends what you want from your CBs I suppose

It does not help when half the season we’ve had full backs who’ve zero pace and who also not comfortable on the ball.

Yep full backs who cover round the back of the centre halfs. Dreams of Simon Charlton. He saved a few teammates.

Beevers has been very sloppy in many games but he’s not on his own

Money to spend I’d keep him as back up

not many left footed CB's around, particularly in the shopping aisle we'll be in. So Beevers will be a fixture for a while

The main thing that scares me with Beevers is when trying to play a high line he's all at sea and dives in. When he's asked to defend his box he's very good. But then that does drag the team deeper. It doesn't help that Wheater is exactly the same, and worse, in that he cannot play on the halfway line or close to it without being a major liability.

Beevers probably with a quicker fitter partner will be the most likely answer. One better than Burke who also was a liability at times.

Folk worrying about Beevers pace not seem Wheaters deficiencies? At least Beevers has a telescopic leg that gets him out of trouble. I will agree 2 new centre backs should be recruited but I’ve no issue with Beevers if he has younger quicker partner than Wheater and we recruited 2 2 full backs with bit of speed.

correct. everything either of them do looks last gasp or panicked. So yes some of our play is hacking clear which gives the rest very few opportunities to get the ball down and play & it comes straight back and they struggle to get out

he treads a very fine line Beevers in pinning a striker down and leaning over / going through the back of him to win the ball. i cant believe how lenient many referees were with that to be honest.

a mix of Burke (bit of pace and can play the ball) & wheater (defensively) would be ideal. how many of those are around is the problem

I mentioned Beevers rather than Wheater as were discussing Millwall at the time and Millwall didn't try to sign Wheater.

Shrewd move by stoke getting Rowett in.

Decent manager.

Derby back to square one for them

Rowett seems quite shrewd as well

Never really achieved anything of note but has worked his way up the managerial ladder quicky by not sticking around anywhere long enough for his reputation to be tarnished

Didn’t really get a choice at brum but was doing a great job on the face of it with what turned out to be a limited squad subsequently.

Unsure on rowett. Arguments for both sides of the coin.

I think I'd rather have stokes team than derbys. I appreciate a few from stoke will go.

Also the fact Derby put no fight up whatsoever suggests it may suit them too

Yeah, but can he assemble a Stoke side to win on a cold Tuesday winter night at the Macron ?

Firstly I sincerely hope not.

Secondly if we don’t get some decent investment to improve our playing squad then I don’t think that’s a particularly tough challenge considering the budget that them boys shall have this year.

£1.8m release clause met apparently so couldn’t stop it.

Fucking ludicrous really for a relatively unproven (contradicting myself slightly) manager from a championship club.

Looked at Derby’s squad after they got beat by Fulham, fair to say a big percentage of that team is ageing and on the wrong side of their peak. Big re-building will be imminent there. Hopefully Morris has had enough of financing it and they up on the decline
