Previous management with other championship clubs suggests otherwise

I said before, I’m not a fan of parkys football, and deep down I don’t think he could make us a solid championship team.

However, he stopped our free fall, got us promoted, and kept us up with no money spent.

He more than deserves a chance this year with some investment.

However, if we start remotely close to how we did this year, than I’d sack him straight away.

I think early in his career he made an error going to Hull. And inherited a Charlton side on a real slide.

Give his performance here he deserves the chance of a season with no embargo and some money to spend at least.

We had a far weaker squad than Sunderland.

mentally or physically?

whats interesting is everyone thinks they will come straight back up, but think PP performed a miracle bringing out strong squad back up

Parkinson was given caretaker job at Charlton before being made permanent, he didn’t win any games in 8 as caretaker

That tells me the slide started with Parkinson

Aye, if you ignore the fact they’d dropped out of the Prem two seasons earlier and had never threatened to go back up.

For the thousand time.

No one is asking for free flowing football

Just an end to the complete shite hoof it to no one or midget which was Served up match after match after match.

Just stop that and Parkinson can stay till he’s 90

Thank fuck for that

The fact he was given the job in that circumstance tells you everything about where they were as a club.

Anyhow the point is here he’s given us the best two seasons for a long old time. And that without spending a thing. That deserves far far more credit than some are prepared to give him.

Yh.

Every defeat was worth it.

It led to THAT moment against forest

:-)

I said that at work. Well worth paying £400 for a season of shit just for the last 5 mins

where Charlton were as a club is irrelevant he failed miserably

Now onto hull with money?

Charlton were failing before he got that job. He was caretaker after Pardew was sacked. The fact they gave him the job after 8 games without a win as caretaker suggests, they were in a mess, well beyond being down to Parky.

Unbelievable Jeff

It seems that we've got shit players, no money and therefore should be pleased with whatever is served up.

Anyway, if ken is being loyal, then hopefully he can give pp a bit of cash. That way we will get to see what he's made of.

They sold their best two players then spent the proceeds

That's not having money

he spent more than he received in on outgoing players so he had money

Anyway I’m pissed off tried renewing season tickets and the club shop are fooking useless

If Parkinson is on a 12 month rolling contract, why would Anderson get rid of him before selling the club?

And if he isn't selling why would he shell out probably near £1 million to get rid of him and his team?

It's just a non starter.

Have you not got internet in Manc?

was over in bolton so called in, about 4 staff shop empty and the guy who sorts them out is off

All this to one side

Who honestly thinks Parky played our best 11 for either Birmingham at home or Burton away?

As hamstrung as we are in terms of strength in depth, that for me puts more emphasis on your manager playing his best 11 every game

Did Parky do that?

Not for me

Out!

Fully agree, he made massive mistakes in those games - but if you’re going to slaughter him for those then you have to give him credit for how he set up against Villa, Bristol and Cardiff.

I can’t say I’m massively in either camp but I also don’t think it’s fair that he can be judged on some games this season where he got it really wrong whilst ignoring the ones where he got it very right.

Physically. Mentally they were a mess, but purely looking at the team/squad on paper they shouldn’t have gone down, we’ve got a far ‘weaker’ squad than them.

Whether some credit is given to the manager that his poorer squad isn’t as mentally weak as Sunderland’s better squad I don’t know, but in terms of the original point about strength of Championship squads I would say that us, Burton and Barnsley were very much on a par but Sunderland were down there due to reasons other than footballing ability.

Again, people picking out single examples.

What his target this season ? Stay up......achieved

Last season promotion......achieved.

Next season depends on getting investment into the team.
