Manager

What we thinking ?

Parky out or give him next season?

I'm not convinced. Just can't see how he will progress us. With or without funds.

Anyone for the country bumpkin Holloway?

Don't like the bloke but he's certainly a better manager than parky.

Wheater and Beevers are a bit too alike and neither stood out as solid Championship material last season. Wheater has slowed an awful lot but retains know-how. Beevers is only a Championship standard player when right at the top of his form.

Having said that, I'd keep both but get in two new CBs - with Wheater and Beevers as the back up. Dervite and Derik are the ones to make way.

Whoever we get in has to be proven Championship standard and good for a couple of years at least. I'd be more nervy about signing someone from League 1 "with potential" for the CB role than anywhere else on the pitch.

Looked at Derby’s squad after they got beat by Fulham, fair to say a big percentage of that team is ageing and on the wrong side of their peak. Big re-building will be imminent there. Hopefully Morris has had enough of financing it and they up on the decline

He lost £22 million bankrolling Derby in the years ended 2016 and 2017.There'll no doubt be another big loss for 2018 and then 2019 in this league.I can't see them going up next season either without him paying for more quality.

£1.8m release clause met apparently so couldn’t stop it.

Fucking ludicrous really for a relatively unproven (contradicting myself slightly) manager from a championship club.

Article I read said Rowett asked first if he could speak to them first to which they agreed and now they'll sort out compo etc

Just seems they were either not too fussed or resigned to him leaving and didn't resist at all

He never sees a job through sometines his fault sometimes others fault but until he achieves something I’d be wary of employing him.

Stoke need an overhaul too. Suppose they have parachute payments though.

I think he's good but it is a worry why he keeps leaving clubs. Having said that Derby had said their spending is now over and they need to reduce outgoings. So perhaps he thought their best chance at promotion was this year.

The danger is in going to Stoke that there is pressure on relegated clubs to go straight back up, but as we've seen it isn't always as straightforward as that.

looking at his record, he got Burton to play offs, turned Birmingham around and took them on an upward spiral, then presumably had the aim of getting Derby at least challenging for the play offs - each job is a stepping stone with the expectation going up

I can't imagine he has any other aim other than to get Stoke promoted

Yes, he's done well. But as pointed out, he's never actually got a team across the line...which is a question mark on him still.

I think he's got to make a long term success of it at Stoke since he's running out of midlands clubs to manage.

Stoke is the first club he has managed but never played for.

This move could make or break him for me, very early on in his management career.

there for longer than 18 months and he has stoke challenging or takes them up, the move has been justified and it enhances his current relatively successful CV to get a bigger role

However, if Stoke turn in to a Derby ie always falling short, not many chairmen will want to touch him i dont think with his constant eye fluttering at other clubs

Derby have smoked some money

Last 3 seasons spent 56m but recouped 35m back

Think the wage bill is the 4th highest

I know, I pointed it out first, he seems to do the bare minimum that is expected then fucks off swiftly

£5m on Lawrence

£5m on Anya

£8m on Vydra

£8m on Johnson

£5m on Butterfield

£6m on Ince

and plenty more 2-3m signings

and to think they baulked at the money we offered Baptiste

Doesn’t Walt Disney own em or summet

fuck knows thought it was that Pearson chap unless he’s moved on. Whoever it is has been throwing money in

crazy dosh ok like I said they recouped abit back but I’d be expecting promotion with that

When you think wolves spent 24m and got promoted straight away

£5m on Lawrence

 rising to £7m

4 goals in 35 games for a team challenging for the play offs. i can only think of one bigger robbery in football for someone so utterly average

When you think wolves spent 24m and got promoted straight away

i dont think 24million is the whole picture with them

In fairness Derby were falling just short for a long time, not just last season!

Doesn’t Walt Disney own em or summet

They were part owned by the investment arm of the Disney corporation for a while.

i dont think 24million is the whole picture with them

They spent £32M up to May 2017.....Mostly in the January window.

When you think wolves spent 24m and got promoted straight away

About £15M of that was on Neves as well wasn't it

I think Wolves certainly used and benefited from the loan market - I'll bet they had a tidy old wage bill, still it's worth it if you piss the league like they did

correct they spent a fair packet but also got 12m for afobe back.

Also isn't some mega agent involved in the ownership of the club and has been able to attract his clients to wolves such as that Neves lad?

i dont think 24million is the whole picture with them[/quote probably I don’t know what sort of package they paid for the manager]
