Both pretty much ensure you've already done your eating by the time you're off for a walk around the small villages or towns. You can find some great little local tavernas where the food is not mass-produced hotel-style. The locals, particularly where AI hotels have opened up are desperate for your custom and their prices often reflect this

So it isn't my choice. I'll keep looking!
Site Supporter MickyD Posted January 3, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted January 3, 2019 Even find your favourite taverna and stick with that so it appeases Mrsbwfcfan5 and kids. I've yet to stay at an all inclusive hotel where I'd eat every day for a fortnight by choice. I've eaten in some great pay-as-you-go restaurants where I would. Moderators Casino Posted January 3, 2019 Moderators Share Posted January 3, 2019 (edited) no traipsing whatsoever honest marni is on the far edge of the village, and there must be 30 eateries within 10 minutes - most offering greek, steaks, chicken plus pizza and some pasta or down to the sea front and tehres loads more Edited January 3, 2019 by Casino

Flanders etc on the Belgian trip Salt mines and Nazi camps in Krakow Probably best getting a private taxi up to Auschwitz and Birkenau mate, as the Tommy Tourist trips spend too much time at Auschwitz and hardly any at Birkenau, which really does need a good few hours at to take it all in. Birkenau was the real horrible place for me, the size and scale of it all was staggering, even more so when considering the Russians had razed most of it to the ground. The Jewish Quarter is Krakow is a must...I’d highly recommend the Ariel Restaurant. In the centre, the Wentzl is a cracker as is the one next door, I think it’s the Weirnsyncz....oldest one in Poland but notch. Scenes from Schindler’s List were shot in there . If you need any further info or lessons in Polish profanities, just give us a shout pal.

From memory, I think we had four hours at Auschwitz, including dining in a cafe which used to House the SS guards there, but only had approx a hour at Birkenau. Like I say, have a word with the driver and get more time at Birkenau. Another cracking restaurant is the Pod Anoalami, a cavern styled one, top notch. Try the soup kitchens nearby....three courses for something daft like a quid. Soup,a huge thick stew and dessert whizzed in for that. Like being in Leigh,Wigan.
