Good input, thanks.

my wife’s holiday is more affected by the weather, as I’ll be underwater!

To be continued......

Go to Bonaire instead - over 300 dive sites - Well outside the hurricane belt

How seriously do you take it?

Fish and underwater life etc, wrecks, caves?

Yes, do/done all those kind of things.

just love being underwater, generally, but love looking at fish in their environment.

Nothing better than spending quality time with Manta Rays, for example.

How seriously?

Just holidays in warm places, as historically, I’ve been busy at weekends with footballing commitments!

Couple of hundred dives logged, but need to get more done before the body goes!

The manta rays sound great. One chap on the box just the other day doing likewise.

Always be a bit of a concern about sharks for me though!

Oh, and these guys that dive in the dark; no thanks, love a dark sky with lots of stars, but not the inky blackness of the ocean.

Did a few night dives a couple years ago. Surreal experience and quite scary at first but unreal once you settle in

Sharks are fine, beautiful creatures

night dives aren’t for me, esp with nut job yanks

They are indeed, though when viewed from a distance. :)

One of those weird things, I've always felt being eaten by anything must be a pretty shit way to go.

Went open sea diving about a mile off Durban (Great White country) with a group of about 30 black tips and one of the girls we were diving with - a "save the shark" activist from Aliwal Shoal -- was hand feeding them sardines so they were circling us at arm's length. Nearly shat myself, but what a buzz.

Istria, Croatia. Any one been?

No, been to Baska Voda, Dubrovnic, Cavtat & Zadar. Istria is next on my wish list, are you thinking about Porec? Don't think you can go wrong with the Istrian Riviera tbh.

Stayed in Porec about ten years ago

Nice little place with everything in walking distance. Very Italian influence from buildings to food

Places like Pula and Rovinj(?) in close proximity for a day out and some spectacular scenery travelling between the two

Regular trips from Porec to Venice if you ever fancy that

We went to Cavtat in July, lovely little place, it is a very relaxing place, pretty quiet, we stayed for a week and stayed in the Hotel Croatia (recommended) which is a massive hotel and about a 10 minute walk to the town.
