Tui have offered my mate vouchers plus an extra 20% as a thank you for his holiday he was due to go on last week. The same holiday next year is almost 40% more expensive.

What’s the crack now with cash refunds? I read that they have to pay cash by law if that’s what the customer requests?

We booked a week away to Gran Canaria with Jet2, we were due to go on the 28th April, Jet2 offered us credit notes, but I didn't take up their offer, managed to get a full refund a few days ago. We did email them asking for a full refund shortly after our cancellation.

Starting to wonder if it’s going to be worth going to France in September, won’t be much fun if the place is all about social distancing - guess it gets us out of these 4 walls but it’s expensive if your not getting a full experience (pool, restaurants etc)

Could even fuck up next years holiday season as well if a vaccine isn’t sorted

One thing is for sure though, when ‘normal’ holidays resume the prices will Sky rocket due to huge pent up demand and reduced capacity following airline / hotel rationalisation

Demand will also depend on ability to pay, which may be somewhat reduced.

Tui have recently cancelled pretty much all their cruise programme till May 2021, i had one booked for Feb 2021 and they have offered travel vouchers and 20% off my next booking - i’ll just have the refund ta. The travel industry is being hit very hard through this pandemic and i think one or more of the major players are going to go tits. The travel/airline industry is not one that can be simply mothballed till this shitstorm is over, the overheads are massive and without any major income, it’s only going to go one way sadly.

Thats grim and just the start I fear. The impact of this virus hasn’t really scratched the surface yet economically as we are in a bubble currently. Hold on to your hats folks

I’ve put in claim for my April Ryanair flights, not waiting for the Irish prick any longer, credit card company said it might be a month but should receive it back in full.

Just had an email from TUI, they have cancelled our July holiday to Lake Garda and they are cancelling all Lakes and Mountain holidays this summer. They've offered us a credit note and a 20% discount off our next holiday.

They probably won’t be around next year for you to use your credit note and discount.

If you go abroad, does insurance cover you if you catch Covid?

I assume our exits from the EU now means that we aren’t covered by E111 type stuff?

Any ideas?

I think, but obviously you would need to check your own policy, but if you took your insurance out before this all started you would be covered....if you take anything out now, then I'd be surprised if it's covered.

Thought no insurance company would insure you now, I stand to be corrected.

Sure that’s the case as well. Martin Lewis did something on it other day I think.  If you travel knowing what you know it’s your risk basically

In weaker moments, I’m mulling over the idea of driving to Bordeaux in July or August, but all I can think is that social distancing will make everything a fucking nightmare and not a holiday.

Cant decide if it’s worth just booking a euro tunnel slot just in case.

I’m not confident of my August booking to Ibiza happening, I’m going to pin my hopes on a decent holiday park in the uk sept/Oct time for this years family break. I think that could be wishful thinking though

Same here don’t think Portugal will be happening

thinking maybe center parcs or something similar if open
