But you’re point was it struck you it was so the airlines could charge people for flights they couldn’t take. If they’ve already booked then they’ve already charged them anyway so not sure how this new directive can have influence on that.

anyway

Because if the flights aren't flying, customers will need to be refunded

Customers being unable to travel cos they cant isolate on return is potentially a different ball game

Understood. Fair point

We finally managed to get a full refund from Jet2 for our cancelled holiday to Gran Canaria, took a while and a couple of emails, I didn't use the credit vouchers they were offering me, they paid me 4 amounts into my bank account, just glad I've got my money back tbh.

We're due to go to Italy in early July, don't want to go tbh and can't see it going ahead anyway, just hope Tui play ball and don't fook us about, because I'll remember who I can trust next time I book a holiday.

Part of me still thinks we will get abroad this year

I certainly hope so.
I can't contemplate the amount of admin I'll have to do for all the holidays we've arranged for the school holidays.

This virus is fucking killing me. I take my commissions once people travel. Nobody is travelling right now, so there's no money coming in. Nobody is booking right now either, so there are no future commissions to look forward to.

Holidays that I spent working on and getting booked in the closing stages of 2019 and early 2020 have already either been refunded or could still end up being refunded.

It really could mean that I've been working the last 6 months for fuck all.

Means fuck all at this point, but our plan (once I'm back at work and know when I can have the time off etc) then we'll be wanting a 2021 summer holiday for 3 of us during school holidays and a week in Cyprus for 2 of us to coincide with a wedding on 1st September. Both will be booked via your good self.

Means more than you think, mate.

I should also point out that I'm not whinging about my situation, I just wanting to point out that certain industries are being affected over a much longer period. We're suffering retrospectively at the moment, which is just weird.

I can imagine your frustrations mate and a double whammy with you both being self employed

can only echo what Matt says and hopefully it will be sooner rather then later

Hopefully racing will resume fairly soon and I can at least get some "work" done there.

Otherwise, all I'm currently doing is keeping a stream of decent vaired travel offers on my FB page to remind people I'm still here and also hopefully promote a bit of desire.

Bottom line in all this, though? Me, the wife & Junior are all safe & well and spending some quality time together, so it's not all bad.

I can’t imagine going abroad will be any fun whatsoever.

Pools, bars, restaurants all so pre-occupied with distancing that you probably spend loads of time queueing up just to sit at a table in a bar with no atmosphere and a queue of people glaring at you wanting you to drink up and leave.

Pools will be closed.

Beaches will be a constant case of looking over your shoulder.

Plus you’re paying double in all likelihood.

I’m out.

This is what I am worried about for our trip to France in September

If its like that then it will just ruin it, I would rather not waste my money

But then again, as has been said, if you CAN go but choose not to as its going to be shit can you expect your money back, probably not

Hancock saying most people won’t be having a foreign holiday this year.

Ryanair are saying 1000 flights a day in July.

Its going to be utterly delightful at the airport this summer

He'd have been better off saying nothing really, statements like that don't really help, perhaps he's just trying to rush through his inevitable sacking, so he can have an easier life

No, they were thinking of introducing skyrider seating in a section of each short haul flight, but charging much less for those "seats"

They're a bit like a theme park ride seat, you're higher up and your feet dangle so you don't need legroom.

Was listening to some radio station this morning on the way to work and some listener asked a travel expert whether he'd still be OK to travel to Paris in July, the travel expert said it would be highly unlikely, social distancing etc and places shut would spoil their holiday, plus your insurance would be invalid even if you took out the insurance before this pandemic, if you got ill, you could be goosed financially.
