October 12, 20187 yr Couldn’t find the other topic so started another. Walked through town for the past 3 days after work and noticed a higher police presence on the beat. Also noticed an absence of beggars/homeless/vagrants. Is there some kind of operation going on?
October 12, 20187 yr I was in town the other weekend. Not been in for yonks. I couldn't believe the amount of rough sleepers and beggars. Shocking and grim.
October 12, 20187 yr Altrincham is picking up now for a town centre, went last Tuesday and looks well better from last year.
October 18, 20187 yr I was in William Hills near Slaters last week when the young girl behind the counter said, have you seen those lot over there, anyhow when I looked over there where about 6 people passing a crack pipe round, openly and not ever trying to hide it, middle of the day. She said they'd been at it all morning. And not only are there beggers outside virtually every shop and on each corner, there is a new gang who walk round the pricint with cardboard coffee cups shoving them in peoples faces and say 'Any spare change for the homeless' I would imagine this is very intimidating for some people. To be fair, I do give the peasants a few quid, especially George outside Morrisons but I'll be fucked if Im giving anything to people coming up to me and asking me for money Edited October 18, 20187 yr by Widnes Two Hats

The homeless have been offered work as PC's.
October 18, 20187 yr back in my day (early 90s), there was only one tramp in Bolton, some old bloke with a beard who hung around Nelson Square, and the rumour was he was a millionaire from Lostock who'd got bored

He was very convincing because he smelled like he'd been living in a bin for 10 years and he appeared to have trench foot. Think he was found dead a few years ago behind St Andrews Court.

Proper double take moment.
October 18, 20187 yr If it's the one I'm thinking of he looked like a homeless Father Christmas. He did die a few years ago. I too heard the rumours he was once very well off, but life took a turn for the worse. Very sad if true. Edited October 18, 20187 yr by DazBob

Biggest surprise though was seeing him on the Manny Road south terrace for a Saturday game once! I remember wondering at the time how he'd afforded it

April 13, 20206 yr If the homeless bloke with the beard is who I'm thinking of he worked with my mum at the civil service in the 60s, said he was lovely bloke, she couldn't believe he was a homeless when she saw him as when she'd known him he was doing fine. Really sad, pretty sure he is the one who died few years back

April 17, 20206 yr Town centre may as well be demolished...keep Town hall Le Mans crescent, Parish church Interchange, Churchgate, Nelson square ,Silverwell st..Market place....what used to be ...the old town hall. Maybe one or two more buildings worth keeping, but the rest of the town needs flattening and turned into walk ways and green spaces......theres no £1.5 billion Chinese money coming now.

I’m been saying flatten from where the old Williams garage was right down to Diamonds was/is for years
