Ultimately it’s no ones job on here to find a suitable replacement. So all this “who would you get then?” When someone suggests potting PP is irrelevant and a bag of bollocks  It’s the task of on

Remember the season, the top 4 scorers were whatmore and Taylor of the whites and 2 Chelsea strikers

Finnieston, I think

And somebody else

By the time we got up, they'd been replaced by gowling and frank

I wonder if we will ever have a goalscoring partnership again in our lifetimes. Or even 2 strikers both scoring in the same game from open play.

nah, he's our only whiff of a threat

drop him for someone like vela and you've just got an extra body running around looking busy

Agreed. It comes to something when a player who can potentially score and create is considered a luxury. Absolute necessity to me if we want to score a goal, along with Ameobi.

involved in 2 of our 3 chances shown here, shit shot for one admittedly, but good cross for that hobbs one off the line

wouldn't surprised me if he was dropped though tomorrow with ameobi back, PP loved flair down the middle like Coyle loved a tackler

he needs games though, otherwise he's going to waste

Maybe. But highlights are totally misleading. They don’t show the 25 mins in the second half where he barely got near the ball.

I’d love him to prove me wrong though

yeah, I get that, and we probably created fuck all of note in that 25 mins as well - we had plenty of the ball last week but fuck all happened in the final third more often than not

there's a reason we're bottom (or top) of the tables relating to goals, shots, chances etc - but it's not because we're carrying him or anything like that, we'd probably be worse off in that sense

I guess the counter argument is if you are going to have 30% percent possession you're better off with someone who can tackle and press more, win it back then give it to a winger to hoof it in, not fer me though

We have to find a place for Magennis for me. He works his socks off and can actually hit the back of the net. Donaldson and Oz playing wide off him

Magennis is league one at best

At least Magennis knows where the net is.

Donaldson had a gilt edged chance first half vs Hull and put it ten foot wide.

Alnwick

Olkowski Wheater Hobbs Taylor

Lowe Williams

Ameobi Oztumer Donaldson

Doidge

I’m not convinced that Donaldson is the right pick there but he’s played ok lately and links fairly well with Doidge, you could also shift that formation pretty quickly to a 442 and ask Oztumer to fill in on the left - gives some flexibility. There’s an argument to say Magennis should start up top but I just have a feeling that Doidge will come good given a run of games.

Nailed on away this.

Bolton 0 Swansea 2

You should remember this when you're whining about parkinson

He’s also our top scorer, works extremely hard and has usually been one of our better performers. You can’t really expect a lot more from any of our strikers given the piss poor service they seem to get week in week out.

1-0. Dull game until Hobbs bags right at the end.

Magennis harasses defenders and runs himself into the ground.

Defence starts upfront and whilst he's not as good as Kevin Davies was at it, he's the most likely to do it of the attacking options we have.

Would that be the same Parkinson that bought him to the club?

Aye

Top of his list or targets with 200k bursting to get out of his pockets

I don't think Magennis will end the season as our first choice striker.

Not Championship level, decent league 1 though.

Hoping Doidge will be, but not seen enough of him yet.

I just don't get the love in with Magennis, I would like to see more of doidge but parkys constant chopping and changing is becoming more and more frustrating.

A win at last 2-1 Doidge and Wheater.

Spot on. He needs a run in the team. Ten minute cameos and a start every 10 games aren't going to do it

I just don't get the love in with Doidge. Magennis is head and shoulders a better player as things stand. Hopefully they both improve as the season goes on.

We haven't seen enough of doidge to form too much of an opinion, apart from an excellent goal at Rotherham, I've seen plenty of Magennis though.

Imo Donaldson holds the Ball up a lot better, Magennis does harass but for a big lad gets pushed about easily

Mad stats them

Sounds like the players just turn off or the management team can’t rally them

Been saying for ages now that the opposition score first we do not win and I have a feeling it was the same with previous managers. As for Parky it's his tactics which are the problem.

Well fine but don't get your hopes up. He didn't even look like winning a header or holding it up vs Hull. That is a major negative playing up front for Bolton.

I'm sure the lad has potential and knows where the net is and I'm not getting down on him so soon because he will get better.

However, we need a win today and Magennis is by far the better choice for us IMO.
