here we go again

after a prolonged spell of beer post huddersfield and being away last week, stayed off it last night and back in the gym today

but this time

did the gym class at 7am as opposed to 9.30am

I have never liked doing anything so early (they have a class at 6am to but fuck that)

after 10 minutes wondered why I'd decided to do it so early

but by the end all good

probably need a nap this afternoon

but booked on to 7am again tomorrow, so going for every morning this week

if I get through it unscathed, I might even try a week of 6am classes (i probably won't)

Been on a weight loss cutting phase past few weeks.

Upped the running and cleaned my diet up. Zero bread.

I've read stuff about cheat days and the likes and people saying they don't work and leads to bad habits.

I'm in the camp of that if you absolutely need that 1 meal or couple or 3 beers a week to reset and focus the mind and switch off from the working week then it's necessary.

I was actually going down the pan last week. Diet, training too much, working in that wank weather.

4 pints in bay yesterday broke the mould and I'm good to go again.

It doesn't have to be hell and punishment.

the most impressive part is working outside all day then dragging yourself back out to run 10k

aye, in the dark, cold, damp, wet night

I'm long gone with all that

seems I've knocked running on the head now

was making the knees ache in the summer, though maybe I was doing too much

HIIT type session down the gym each morning now, includes blasts on the treads

most importantly, knees ok

I will not do outdoor exercise in the dark again

Was sound pal. I've been working for a about 6 weeks on keeping at Zones 2&3. Slow to fast method, 1 long run in Zone 2 as much as I can then following session doing a hard and fast number for a shorter distance. Just a way of conditioning my ticker and breathing.

Now it's time to pick up the distances and get some big boys chucked in in an around gym work.

Mint. It’s ace when it comes together. I have had 3 big runs now where I’ve felt great which hasn’t happened for ages. 80 days today to Seville marathon 😁

10 keys in 6.5 minutes is your usual pace

Just finished a 10 day run streak - wanted to get my 5km back under 26 mins - now always around 25.50/55

Next is 25 mins - although at nearly 48 im sure my 19/20 min 5km are behind me.

10km clocking in around 56/57. Aim to get to that down as well.

Rest day today - not enjoyed it - but dont want to get an injury and bugger up all the hard work.

Signed up to the Herne Bay 10km Santa Dash as a fun way to get back into doing some fun runs/races.

Has anybody invested in any of these new smart scales? The Hume pod ones?

Wife tells me I'm a fat cunt for free.
No expensive scales needed.

Did one of these intolerance tests done. Quite clever, you send a bit of blood off and they test it.

Transpires that I struggle with milk (all kinds) , hops, shellfish, and carrots. The milk getting a 100/100 score for intolerance.

Would seem the ulcers, sore mouth swelled lips, itchy skin, and sore bloated stomach is that.

Should have realised as I started raking whey supplements and ended up stopping going to the gym as I was struggling.

Wife's also allergic to cows milk, but not goat or sheep milk.

Been doing some yoga-type stretches that I downloaded to stretch the muscle. Blimey. Big difference. You’re right

Wish I’d taken this more seriously. Had horrendous hip and thigh pain since Xmas and hamstring cramps that were flooring me. Been nailing the swimming but made it worse

Got a referral to physio via work. Yep. Psoas muscle. Done three weeks of stretching exercises, now on the strengthening bridges, the “superman”, etc. Pilates basically. Finally mobile again

Might even join the classes at the gym that the Mrs goes to and be the token poof with his yoga mat and Lycra :D

Yeah same here. I owe Gonzo a beer. Sorted out my pain with just a few stretches.

I watch what I eat 6 days a week except on Saturday when anything goes….always the gym Sunday to sweat it off. Works for me.
