You do realise how long a football club takeover from administration typically takes, don't you?

Leicester City were in admin for 18 months once upon a time. Palace were in admin for 6 months. Coventry four. Portsmouth were in administration for about 2 years! The most recent English football administration, Aldershot Town, took over a year.

Without understanding every individual circumstance, they were able to turn up, play and compete, as they still had senior players under contract, and clearly, had proof of funds to run the club. Neither Bolton nor Bury have been able to satisfy both of those criteria.

The fact that we're even close to finalisation after two months is nothing short of impressive. But then, many within our fanbase simply don't look at it like that - they seem to expect the fabled magic money tree to make these problems go away, then cob up if the club charges £24 for a ticket.

Admins refused to sell ST though, because they can't guarantee we'd still be running, I assume. Doubt it was just ST money that allowed them to keep going.

Owners possibly had a big enough admin pot before leaving?

The difficulty for the admins was they had a buyer - and believed completion was possible. So they held off. They also had zero money in the business - and rectified that with the deposit from FV.

But they were limited in trading terms because they couldn't afford to properly do pay runs - so paid some staff and not others. To then start selling STs on what was an insolvent company would leave them liable - not new owners - should anything go wrong.

Yeah, that's what I mean. The other clubs probably had more money left in when admin was done. I assume it was probably done mid season too in a few cases, which means games being played every week or two. Unlike Ken who waited and waited to make sure we suffer as much as possible from it.

Did anyone hear Parky saying last night that when we stayed up season but last, KA was going to sell and had a bidder who was going to buy the club which fell through, be interesting to know who that was and why it fell through.

Fearing the worst now, we seem to have hit the buffers and Anderson will not budge, I honestly believe that we are dead in the water if he doesn’t get his way and that is both unpalatable and unlikely. God, I hope I’m wrong.🤞🤞

Yeah - the timing was critically bad. Like you say you could envisage them being able to trade had it happened mid season and we could have assembled a modest squad based on ST sales. Having said that I'm not sure a slow death is better than a quick one. Its good that one way or another this gets resolved.

Read various fan sites etc and what amazes me is the majority who would love us to go bump are mufc fans ,     always thought we were 'a small insignificance' to that lot.     The good thing about it is that it has renewed my er dislike for em.           Others to note   Leeds- they still dont like the fact we saw em cry at the Reebok,       wolves -   the yam yams never did get over John mcginley.          And also have a read of she wore a yellow ribbon -   the arse want us to go as only spurs are more deluded apparently !!

You get bell ends and trolls at every club, even ours.

Saw a Blackpool fan on Twitter laughing and hoping for us to go bust yesterday, few others replying to him agreeing. Of all clubs you'd think they'd have some decency after all the crying they've done.

honestly think blackpool hate us more than any other club

always toxic when we play them

probably cos of the fatal day in 1974?

Not really arsed one bit other fans laughing at us, it's all mostly kids trying to wind most fans up. All I care about us fans always caring about the club & us still being a club, fuck what the rest think!

True. I had a surf around a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised at positive comments from Tranmere and Wigan fans.  The worst vitriol I found was from City fans on king of the Kippax. Why they care and why so many seemed to have such a dislike of us I've no idea. I always thought they were alright

I think the big City site is Blue Moon.I've not looked at it for months but was surprised at the numbers enjoying our financial troubles back then.I could only think it was because Sam Allardyce took us to their ground and beat them three seasons in a row

Remember when they were potless and we went there with a swaggering team lead by Anelka 2 up first half and just toyed with them second half, empty seats everywhere, how times have changed. Lifesabitch

At the time I heard from a very reliable source close to the club that there was a deal on the table, however it can't be proved and a certain poster on here ridiculed the idea even though I made it clear that it was still just a rumour - but if you're interested.....

Allegedly, Ron Burkle, owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins, billionaire and general do-gooder with a specialism in turning round failing businesses expressed an interest and made an offer. He (allegedly) sent a team over to negotiate with Anderson, however the deal fell through because it turned out that the figures Anderson was bandying about were a complete load of bollocks, that Anderson wanted a huge personal payout and he treated them really badly - to the point that they apparently called him obnoxious.

I was pretty excited about this at the time given the amazing turnaround job Burkle has done with Penguins who were on their arse when he arrived and have since won the Stanley Cup 3 times and have an amazing stadium etc.

Whether it turns out to be true or not we may never know but anyhoo it's water under the bridge now.

so

if Pompey and Leicester had proof of funds to run the club for 18 months-2 years - why did they go into admin in the first place?

or did they have enough money to pay  players / host games but not their debtors?

I know you said you didn't know the individual circumstances, but here's two clubs that have recently gone into admin and are fucked, but previously clubs have gone in for a while and got by

so what's the difference?

Without wishing to labour a point that really isn't my area is expertise, I'd assume that their saleable assets (i.e. contracted players) made it considerably easier to fund administration and the club in the interim.

We didn't have that safety cushion. To a degree, Bury did, but they also haven't had a serious buyer lined up, or any form of funding from that charlatan who took them over. Add in the fact that summer is a massive drain on any clubs finance (minimal income, with continued overheads), and it was, unfortunately, inevitable for them.

**By the way, the Heathcote puns have really lifted my spirits on what has been quite a miserable day. Some of you have quite a skillet making cookery puns.

How can a teenage player with a couple of England caps now be valued at more than 3 times the cost of BWFC?
