The BWFC Legend - Packy's Funeral

Just been told of an old Bolton Wanderers mate sadly passing away. Known him since childhood and will be missed by all those that knew him at matches.

Talking to Nicola who wanted to know what Packy was like as an early teen. I told her when he played subbuteo at his house, if he was losing, he would withdraw all his players off the pitch and abando

RIP to a fellow wanderer.

Rip Alan....top bloke, true Wanderer.

Sad news, RIP lad.

RIP fellow Wanderer

RIP - another good un gone

Like Burnden was for me, he was a seemingly ever present fixture and fitting at BWFC games and will be sadly missed.

Had a pint with him in the Balmoral a few years back which was the last time we met.

RIP mate. Say hello to Hopky, Nat and Thommo for us.

Paki and Ivan could be spotted in the Manny Road North Stand through much of the grim 1980s. Only spoke to him a few times but saw him loads at the match. Clearly Wanderers to the core. RIP.

Ferny as well + a host of other top Whites departed too soon.

The Trotters Tavern in the sky will be getting fairly busy now - you can bet they're all having a good crack though.

RIP pal

Had some scrapes with Packy over the years watching Bolton, too many to post on here. One funny incident was at Blackpool in the Lancs'Manx cup in 77, six of us got ambushed under the disused railway bridge on Rigby Rd, Packy got whacked over the head with a bottle but we fought back and they run off, one of them left a tangerine bob cap behind so Packy put it in his pocket. Caught the train and decided to go to Preston for a few, Packy decided to put the bob cap on when we got off the train. When the train pulled off, a Bolton fan hanging out the window smacked him in the chops. Anyway we went downstairs to the long gone Painted Wagon for a breather, settled down for a few pints then a mob full off PNE piled in after they had been playing Mansfield away in a League Cup Tie, they started earlier in those times. Anyway, they took pity on us and glad we had give Blackpool a kicking.:D

Not sorted yet. There's a hold up with the coroners office so unable to arrange dates.

Aye, our Coroner snuffed it recently.

No enquiry; suspicious

R.I.P. to a fellow White.

Always remember Packy dancing to this on a New Years Eve party in 79 at my flat.:D

Great to read that the lad will be getting a top drawer send off.

RIP Packy.

I can not make it over Friday as will be drunk.

Hope he gets a great send off, never really knew him as well as others on here but he was always everywhere we went.
