Youri McAnespie Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Casino made a rather dubious claim in the main film thread that 'I've seen only thirty films in my life...' Surely a bollocks statement? Surely everyone our ages or thereabouts have watched the likes of; Rocky, Back to the Future, Spartacus, My Dinner With Andre or The Tin Drum? Incidentally I watched Dr Strangelove last night for the first time, in its entirety - thought it were shite. Quote
Blondi Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I've never watched any of the back to the future films and it was my era too, my mates can't believe I've still not watched it. Quote
Marc505 Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Michael Owen says he's only watched 6 films in his entire life. I taped Dr Strangelove last night actually, never seen it either. Quote
gonzo Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I’ve never seen a Star Wars film. Or a godfather. Or scarface. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted November 6, 2019 Author Posted November 6, 2019 (edited) I dunno what it'd be like to watch Back to the Future for the first time and with no nostalgic fondness - probably think it were crap... I suspected more people might have actually watched The Tin Drum as many a subtitled film was watched by lads in the days of four channels in the faint hope of a glimpse of tit or bush and/or some shagging. I believe Michael Owen - I knew sport crazed kids as a kid and anything outside sport they didn't want to know - A-Team? No ta. Knight Rider? Nah. P*ki Bazzing? I'll pass... Making a discarded porno den? Fuck off. Edited November 6, 2019 by Youri McAnespie Quote
Escobarp Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Lord of the rings or anything of that ilk harry potter godfather(s) Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Not a film but im currently addicted to Ashes To Ashes. It's the first time I've watched and i love it, the one liners are still very witty. Quote
deane koontz Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I attempted to watch The Godfather once and i fell asleep 20 minutes in. Never tried it again. Quote
DirtySanchez Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Not seen any of the Rocky, Rambo or Godfather films Quote
bolton va va Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I really like filums but haven't seen any of the listed ones & avoid any sci-fi, time/space travel or alien type stuff...just not my thing. Off topic a bit, but recently saw a survey thing where you had to choose your 3 best/favourite British films ( without splitting hairs about "British" ) & found it almost impossible to whittle it down to 3. I finished up with.....Sexy Beast, Withnail & I. & Get Carter, but there were loads of others I could have picked on another day. Quote
Rudy Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Never seen a Rambo film or a Pre Daniel Craig Bond film Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Saw Rambo for the first time recently. Generally seen the ones talked about, but never heard of tin drum. A must see for me is Paul. Piss funny. Guaranteed pick me up! Quote

Not in Crawley Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I must have tried to watch them both about 20 times but I never, ever get to the end of either Blade Runner or Apocalypse Now. Quote
Duck Egg Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Citizen Kane was a let down when I got to see it. In fact several Oscar winning films I've found to be utter shite, Moonlight & The English Patient immediately spring to mind. I've never seen Harry Potter and never will do. Goodfellas must be on any must see list surely? Quote
Not in Crawley Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Had to watch moonlight a few times, it gets better with repeat viewings Quote

I turned apocalypse now off with just 20 mins left as I was bored and tired I think the only other film I didn't finish was never ending story two at Bolton cinema, got bored and walked out Really want to like blade runner more than I do and watch it every couple of years, but it's still 7/10 at best I got one of those 1000 films to watch before you die books about ten years ago, done about 250-300 of them I reckon Id watch more but I just don't have the time anymore Had to watch IT chapter 2 in 4 sessions Quote
frank_spencer Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Never seen goodfellas or scarface. Got the godfathers as a box set in my student days so watched those. Most things pre 85 its very unlikely I'll have watched them. Quote
jayjayoghani Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Don't watch many films but First Blood, the first Rambo film is very good. Quote

And only The Shining and Pulp Fiction trump it Quote
MickyD Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 (edited) Inn of the Sixth Happiness - Ingrid Bergman. I think that was the very first film I ever saw. With a Nik-Nak Paddywhack give a dog a bone... Edited November 6, 2019 by MickyD Quote

I’m sorry but both the book and the film leave me cold. My other half loves Blade Runner but it’s a film that’s like her record collection, really angular punk/new wave - find it a bit cold. Mind you she can rip into pavement in a proper funny it’s awww little boys trying to be smart way that is great. And I fucking love Pavement. Quote

Maybe Long Good Friday to replace Withnail and keep them all in a gangster category. But then again, any of the Python stuff is British if we're broadening out. Quote
Sweep Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Never seen a Godfather film, or Spinal Tap, or Clockwork Orange Quote
