You're right, but it still doesn't sit right with me.

Get them up before a judge and jury in a proper legal case. Even if they don't win, the alleged nonces will have their activities thrust into the public realm. Not good for their "careers".

Taking half a million dollars a few years back doesn't do their case any good now, and in the scheme of things, it's not that much.

Rather than claiming, “I can’t be tried, she was paid off!” He ought to be saying, “Trial? Bring it on. I have total confidence in the judicial process.”

It’s a civil case and within the settlement agreement from a previous matter between her Epstein his lawyers believe it removes all rights for her to pursue him? I’m not sure who would do anything different. In fact I’m pretty sure nobody would and any lawyer would be doing exactly the same. Irrespective of who their Client was.

Get what you want, then return to the table at a later date claiming both sides need to be rational.

Even if he'd never slept with her, which I suspect he has, there's no way he wants his sex life, his personal life and his dubious friendships dragged through the courts.  The allegations alone are damaging but far less so than scrutiny of his whole lifestyle would be.
