Loan players

Had some belters in the past. At the risk of sounding like a Social Media superfan, who was a hit and who was a miss?

Ian Bailey 1981, loan from Sheff Wed, great player.  Came back for a 2nd spell then broke his leg.

When did loaning players in and out become a thing? Was Robert Fleck one of the early ones?

Didn't we sign Laville the following season , but he fucked his knee up and didn't play again.

Just our luck.

Yeah you’re right. He was class in his short time.

aye, though he was shite for us

likewise - Salva Ballesta managed to find himself as La Liga's top scorer, but did fuck all for us

He wasn’t really given much of a chance IIRC.

Andy Walker....he’d get a game for us now

Bruno N’Gotty.

I recall us loaning a Guatemalan striker called Dwight Pezzarossi. There was also an Italian, Pissano I think was his name. Both yielded nowt.

Prob not, wiki says 6 games 0 goals

Doubt he started many, if any, of those six

Think Bruno was a loan but not the other two.

Did he not do it in that joke performance at pompey a couple of games in

4 0 with Gardner at right back

Trevor Hebberd from Southampton. Classy midfielder. 70s in 2nd division.

Midweek game? 54 yr old Sheringham with a hat trick?

Ian Bailey is a good shout

Martin Pike did well, too

Didn't we miss out on Pike due to a £5k difference in the two clubs' respective valuations of him?

Bob taylor 1997/98

Amos was good on loan 《shudders》

Otsemobor, O'Kane, Moreno, Ba, the other Holdsworth and Howey were some of Sam's shockers.

Owen Coyle outdid him with Gael Kakuta and the dreadful Boyata

Djibril Diawara was another Sam shocker.

Only played 5 games for us around 89/90 sandwiched between about 350 games for Peterborough, Sheff U and Fulham.  I remember his name but he made no impression on me at all and he's probably forgotten he came here!
