That was one of the loveliest things to ever happen. Stood in my garden sobbing like a baby! Proud to work for the NHS 👏👏👏👏❤️

I find the idea of Bolton voluntarily isolating itself within its own town borders incomprehensibly stupid - if you're not going to back it up by making it mandatory.

Trying to get correct numbers isn’t easy.

MMEN has 43 admissions and 43 patients in hospital. One is likely to be wrong, or both.

The Mirror has it as 24 being treated.

The official daily summary is at 24 and that is up to date

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/healthcare?areaType=nhstrust&areaName=Bolton NHS Foundation Trust

the 43 comes from here;

BREAKING - The number of covid patients in Bolton hospital has increased to 43 this morning - up from 33 yesterday morning, and 29 on Friday. According to numbers seen by HSJ

I’d be keen to see the ages and vaccine status of these people.

For 2 reasons.

if they were eligible and haven’t bothered, then fuck them and let us crack on.

or

They’re young, and the variant is potentially a genuine threat.

We need to know. We ought to know.

Mrs C says yes but its dead

It's been a lot quieter - so the bus will probably start moving about to other locations now.

Alternatively they might choose to bring the age limit down.

I really don't think there's a fat lot much more we can do to make it easy for people. Apart from following them and shooting vaccine into them with a blowgun?

If they are young, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is a threat. The issue would be if they had been jabbed or double jabbed weeks ago.

I suppose.

Either way, unless they announce the new variant evades vaccines and my eyeballs might dissolve, it’s time to ignore them.

As I say, natural selection is the only killer left.

I’m calling the 43 as bullshit

Officially, aye, might make sense

However i know for a fact if you turn up, youve been getting done, any age

Dr Wall begged folk to come 10 days ago

She pretty much said theyd find a way to justify giving the jab

So, mum and dad, both have had two jabs, so has my Mrs and I've had one. They want to visit for half term next week. I've not seen my family for getting onto a year for my folks, and nearly 2 for everyone else in my family.

Last summer, you guys were locked down and we were OK, same with the tiers before Christmas. Have you had a week in 14 months without lockdown? I'd be annoyed, especially with what's happening. Can't believe it's easier in a South London suburb than a Northern town.

Booked for my first jab. Next Thursday in Urmston, Horwich is fully booked for 2 weeks.

Horwich are doing walkins this week. Possibly today and tomorrow but check first by phoning Kildonian House.

Carry on as normal.

This advice isn’t enforceable and frankly, next week the roads out of Bolton will look like the wacky races as half term begins.

If you’re ill, stay at home.

If you’re in hospital because an imaginary ghost in the sky wishes it, then try not to take up too much taxpayer resource.

Good luck stopping a town full of people who have mostly obeyed the rules for 14 months from having a few days away.

Im not even sorry. I don’t even blame Boris.

But I’m off for a break.

Most might of obeyed but there is a large minority who’ve carried on as normal and decided they didn’t need the vaccine, add to that Boris allowing Pakistan & Indian flights to continue unhindered right through this pandemic while the rest of us couldn’t go for a weekend break in low rate countries then you have the perfect storm for places like Bolton and other towns with similar demographics. Flights need to stop completely now to and from red areas.

Totally agree.

The vaccine works, we know that.

The NHS isn’t under any pressure and there’s no real danger it will be.

The majority of us have toed the line. The roadmap is good. I’m fucked if I’m spending anymore time locked down because of conspiracy cunts and religious nutjobs.

Im out.

Why arent places like Birmingham with large pockets of predominantly ethnic communities seeing anywhere near the numbers of Bolton?

Can’t blame you. Just test yourself first and don’t see why you are not good to go.

Testing twice a week anyway because of the kids.

Overseas travel is probably still a bit iffy. I was fine locking down to protect the vulnerable and the NHS. I’m not fine staying at home because some attention seeking, lazy or religious prick can’t do the right thing.

Suppose it depends on the nationality of the ethnic communities, perhaps Bolton has large Indian community (india was red listed later than Pakistan) whereas Birmingham might be more Pakistan, I did read the spread in Bolton is now & community spread that suggests it’s been in Bolton some time but not picked up by the testing quick enough, also suggests that the Bolton areas where it’s spread are not abiding by the rules in place.

Rumour today is that post 21/6, nhs app will ping you for 10 days if you come into contact with a sufferer

Even if you've been 2 jabbed

They’ll be pinging everyone in Bolton, lockdown by stealth, just in time for the holiday period.

Thanks. Genuinely interested why it’s out of control in Bolton but other towns and cities not having sane issues. Maybe just an unfortunate sequence of events.

Can the app differentiate between folk who have been vaccinated and not?

Once I’ve had my second in a few weeks I’m  not paying any attention to it all anyway. Guessing most folk will be the same.

100%.

It’s not a coincidence that the areas seeing this spike have large populations with roots in the sub continent.

Clearly, views have changed and people are starting to make their own decisions.

Selfish bastard. Stay at home and lose another year of your life will you!
