I assume you mean it had been alive prior to being sent to swim in 190 degree bubbling oil. Probably wouldn't last too long in that.

It was still twitching when removed from the oil. They held it by its head, so it's head was always out of the oil, and presumably still alive, as its eyes and mouth were still moving

One of the worst videos I saw was at the chicken farm where they sexed the hatchlings and females lived, males were crushed between two big rollers with teeth.Quick dispatch but cruel all the same.

Working in a slaughter house was pretty gruesome, the cows and sheep walked in without a struggle into the killing pen, it was the pigs what would put a right ruck up as though they knew.
