It was a response to Raab's repeated assertions that Boris was happily working flat out, leading the country from his hospital bed - ergo if he's capable of leading the entire country, surely he can't be that ill? Wording looks a bit clumsy now, but then Raab was obviously bullshitting them given what we know now. Quote
gonzo Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 If you ring 111 and and doctor or nurse comes to your house, would they take a swab to test for this? Quote

No. It’s unlikely anyone would come to your home. You will be told to self isolate for 7 days. If symptoms get worse or last longer ring back. That’s it. Quote

It was like a military operation getting into the ppe, usually can pass through with only needing to wash hands. After I'd finished, I had to go to one of the side rooms to get undressed, taking mask and glasses off from the back. Advised to have a shower before I got in the car. One of the consultants told me that you need to be washing clothes at 70 degrees, although most washers don't go that high. He said his wife has been putting kettle water on his stuff at the door. In short, thermal disinfection is the use of above-average wash temperatures for a set cycle time to ensure any potentially infections microbes are killed. This can be done in a number of ways, such as 93°C for one minute, 71°C for three minutes, or 65°C for at least ten minutes Crucially, these temperatures are suitable for use when washing both ‘used’ and ‘infected’ linen. Awful times. They dont have you in ICU as a precaution. Especially when staff/beds/equipment is sparse. Quote

Well that’s the official line anyway. Saying he’s been moved in case he needs ventilation. I guess they play it down to prevent panic. But other side is I’m sure they take extra precaution with the PM. Quote

That's what I thought. Surely he's going to get tubed if he's up on ICU. Otherwise what's the point of him being there? Quote

Spaces in ICU are at a premium. A very good friend of mine let me know yesterday that his grandma has been admitted to hospital that afternoon as she was quite unwell with it. They said that because of her age (and presumably being at / near capacity) they couldn’t give her a place in ICU or put her on a ventilator. Her breathing deteriorated soon after and she didn’t see out the rest of the day. Edited April 6, 2020 by Jol_BWFC Quote
