The truth probably lies somewhere between the two, as usual.

Nobody's covering themselves in glory, really.

I would tend to agree with you. I don’t think the actual position is anywhere but in the middle.  I’m merely playing to the audience in this respect and in response to the over reaction to the story in the first place.

I’ve no issue with the truth coming out about any of this. I just think the timing of all this shit is wrong and we should be allowing people to focus on dealing with them crisis than having to draft lengthy statements to quell the baying hoardes

Govt fighting back v Sunday Times

I’ve no idea who is right, time will tell, but I like the fight back

Of course you do.

If that's the extent of the governments 'fightback', then it's pretty damning in and of itself.

No effort at all to suggest what Boris was doing at the time of each of those meetings that was more important. Or anything to contradict the idea that he didn't work weekends and spent much of the early part of this year pissing about on 'working' holidays.

Why should his work be publicised?

Just to satisfy a small number of screechers?

You've already made your mind up, so it would be to no avail anyway.

Wonder why we are losing?

It's only since April 10th though.

Ran out of steam after 70 minutes.

It seems it's for NHS workers and key enablers, we need more of these for teachers, administrators etc, if the Govt say they want 100k testing by the end of April, i would assume its this type of centre we need to go to.

Aye need the testing capacity.

So you don’t think the PM should be accountable to NHS staff, care workers and other key workers who are going beyond the call of duty everyday throughout the UK ?

Looks like the Ethihad Stadium will open as a drive through CV self-testing centre today ?

How will that work, is it invite or do people from the area just turn up ?

https://themanc.com/news/new-coronavirus-testing-centre-opens-at-manchester-citys-etihad-campus/

It says in the 2nd paragraph:

It will have the capacity to carry out 100 tests per day for NHS staff, care workers and key workers, and will allow quick and convenient testing to be carried out – with referrals for testing made by employers.

Read it after, but surely if there is the capacity to spread it out to other sectors like Education for example, you would think they would do that. Unless its about staffing at this point.

Schools are a long way off being open.

Soon as they do, cases will rise sharply..

Ramamdam is gonna be fun.

Education secretary yesterday said schools won’t be open until after summer I think? October start then?

presumably he would be referring to the "summer holidays" so opening up second week of September  -  Our neighbours daughter, and another girl who lives across the street are both teachers, and they're saying no way will they be open until the start of the new school year in September  -  I'm not sure how they would know, but they both seem fairly convinced.

Plans are in place for us till the end of July.

Football will be back in place before schools, it's impossible to get kids to social distance, and schools simply don't have the space to social distance..

They will not have cancelled all exams for a couple of weeks off..

He’s turning into a bit of a dictator that lad is. Storms ahead with his own ideas.

I work in a College, so i am at the same point as yourself, however if testing were open to teachers and administrators, those who have had CV in theory could get back to work, there has to be a starting point somewhere, for us at least to get back and start a new academic year. Personally i don't think we should open centre's until September at least.

Same boat, some of the classes won't be an issue with social distancing, however bigger classes you have no chance..

Add into that air conditioning and fans in rooms as it gets warmer.. Constant need to clean touch points etc, it's much too much risk.

Problem is i can see primary schools opening before hand as there is the arguement that "I need to return to work", however this creates a problem. Do you invite back just the kids of those where both parents are working? What about the pupil premium kids who need the stability or SEN students.. Will it be compulsory, and if so what about parents at home that are at risk?

The antibody test would be ideal, but again how can that be managed when we don't even have them yet.

The government is getting a lot of Grief atm and I wouldn't fancy their jobs. I'm applying for jobs at the moment and interviews will be done via zoom, educations been turned upside down and it's harder work than it should be. Schools are also thinking that there is much more time for other work now.

Its a difficult decision he has to make and one that will divide and won't please everbody, like most decisions regarding CV the Government can't win.

I don’t know, the majority of the public are still behind the government

Add accountability and transparency into that.
