Because they found a flaw in it. It wasn’t as compatible with another key system and had surprisingly not been properly tested in this respect. 
 

standlone it worked  but it didn’t deliver what ultimately they needed  also when it was being developed they hadn’t accounted for huge changes in the other systems driven by a change in demand from the consumer  so they had developed something that was effectively outdated  all this in space of a few months  technology eh

Why have you gone off over this ? 
 

Surely on a massive thread about the virus it is a highly relevant thing to raise ? We could have had the off the shelf version weeks ago. Other countries have done the same as us. 
 

No one in your company been bollocked for the incomplete testing ? You edited your post to give details. Not sure you can use the technology reason for the change here.

Other countries are developing their own, so presumably, the off the shelf one has limitations.

Plus, Germany managed a highly successful, system of tracing etc without an app.

Still working on theirs list time I looked.

Pros and cons like anything; and if people are going to be cunty about releasing names of contacts, both methods will have some limitations.

It’s how it’s raised and flagged that I have an issue with

and “he said it was working”? so was our product. It stopped working or more precisely it was pulled. And something else will be Developed to replace it that will do the job properly.

The point I was making was the other EU countries had looked at doing the stand alone version and fucked it off so it is not as though we are in a unique position.
