Bournemouth looks like the seventh circle of hell

Well we had a lovely day down at Sandgate (inbetween Folkestone and Hythe) lovely beach, everyone apart and loads of room, had a couple of very nice swims in the crystal clear sea.

You see that sounds like a decent afternoon out. All this crap elsewhere no for me. Rather stay at home

It’s a pebble beach, so not as popular for starters and it shelves so really little kids can’t paddle but it’s great to have a proper swim in as it’s so deep near the beach. It’s just one long stretch of coastline so you can park up for free away from any town centres and because of that the kids tend to stay away as there is nothing there but the beach.

Did go through and had fish and chips and the part near the town was busier but still loads of room.

Although, Botany Bay (not the retail park) got closed because of the amount of traffic going to the beach, just brought the roads to a standstill.

See along from me is decent for swimming. But a tad cold all the time!. Near where @ZicoKelly’s brother lives.

When open you can change in the swimming Baths and then on to the beach and into the sea. Good for the soul they say

Great for him to have that on his doorstep. I have sea and a pebble beach on mine Pretty much and a sandy one further down but very tidal and miles out for a swim. I stick to the swimming baths though

Schools are fucking the whole system up.

No reason whatsoever kids shouldn’t be back in.

Same applies for nurseries and holiday clubs. Get the fuckers open.

Lockdown is over. This virus isn’t coming back. VE Day, bank holidays, riots, secret raves have seen no flare ups in numbers.

Time to stop pissing about.

Wonder how many parents who have refused to let kids go back because of the danger spent yesterday on a beach with them ?

A serious question.  Yesterday 331 MPs voted against weekly tests for NHS staff and care workers. Given we have excess capacity why not do this ? Seems sensible. Genuine question I know there will be some cost by not much in the overall scheme of things. Anyone know ?

I'm surprised this is something that that would go to a vote.

Why wouldn't it just be done, if it was deemed a useful thing to do.

Seems a bit more to it, surprise , surprise.

Sounds like it was a virtue signalling policy, to gain headlines.

Our nursery is open, has been taking kids back since June 1st

They can go either Mon-weds or Thurs-fri

Sending ours back next Thurs

Its attached to a school which is still closed

Not sure about the bit in bold, it's never gone away, have we made it to below 100 deaths yet?

Sorry meant it’s never coming back with the same impact it did before.

the idea of lockdown was to protect the NHS and stop it getting overloaded. We could fly back up to 500 deaths a day and it still wouldn’t get overloaded.

We need to just crack on accept it’s another virus is now at the table. If folk get it, they get it and Deal with it.

I just don’t get people wasting time, money and educations on a set of wishy washy bollocks rules that nobody adheres to in any other walk of life and a good proportion of people didn’t or couldn’t do in the first place.

Does seem like Labour were putting forward a basically decent idea but with no substance to say how it would work.

Not sure what this suirvalance  monitoring is. (How how to spell it ! 😁).

It would be a massive waste of time and resources.

It sounds great - but it uses up amount of testing and lab capacity that could be used for other things.

Have we not got a load of spare testing capacity ? Footballers being tested twice a week (paid for privately) and nurses will be twice a month.

Chris  Whitty Seems to think every 2 weeks is fine so seems fair enough. Was just trying to understand why it got voted down when Jeremy Hunt was saying it was right thing to do a few days ago.

What's making me laugh about this whole reopening of certain things is it showing people's innate selfishness for things, no matter how trivial, and complete change in attitude from a few weeks ago. Some mates of ours, she was ranting when "lock down" first started about her fellas bosses not letting him stay home. They were the devil himself for making him have to work still, he's a mobile car body work repair man. When I spoke to him about it he rolled his eyes and said, she can't get it in her head that we're still busy as fuck and WFH isn't an option. Her words on face ache were "no one should be at work but emergency services and supermarket workers" 🙄 I didn't have the heart to ask her how everything was supposed to be produced and transported to the shops, for a kick off...anyway, her latest rants are now about the government are dick heads, not because they are opening pubs again or to soon, but because they're not opening nail salons and she needs hers doing.

I mean, she's a mate but, jesus wept!!!

It's 1.1 million tests every 2 weeks. It could be done - but the logistics and the money it would cost would be eye watering. And then you'd have to have to have the lab capacity to cope.

I just don't think the need is there currently. Might have been worthwhile a few months ago - or if numbers start to ramp up again. But right now we need to be focussing on the patients who've had no treatment for the past 3 months. This would get in the way.

Anyway - just my three penneth!

Labour don't have access to the data that the government do, so if they're trying to put a policy in to law, it would have to follow the science and situation.

Perhaps without the necessary information, the policy would have been ineffective, cumbersome and costly.

As detailed by Kent.
