Smallish group of us going to Manc in a few weeks currently looking at which places would be best

Booked into Asha’s on Peter St for a curry so was down the Deansgate Locks end of town for a few beers beforehand so can only tell you about that part of town

Atlas Bar - tried twice but full up each time

The Knott - walk in and had a table - local breweries on tap - don’t normally drink lager but had a superb pint of locally brewed stuff - other folk were waxing lyrical about the locally brewed IPAs and bitters

Dukes 92 - forget it, not a prayer of getting in

Kiely’s Irish bar behind the Radisson Edwardian - lovely Guinness, well managed and the only folk struggling to get in were larger groups

Brew Dog, Alberts Schloss, etc were big queues

Anywhere on or near Albert Square was bookings only.

The Deansgate has shut down. Gutted. Loved that place

Taxi took us back home via the NQ. By that time (8 o’clock) there were queues outside most places but only short

tbh mate it looks like you just have to chance it. Earlier the better. It was a ghost town at 8 o’clock but still queues. Next time I’ll go NQ about 2/3pm and be out by 8pm

I actually enjoyed it. No mither. No big groups of dickheads. Plenty groups of 4-6 lads or couples just having a laugh and a beer.

Nowhere will let more than 6 in and spoke to a couple of doormen who said most wont let more than 4 in simply because they don’t have the space/tables

Let me know where you end up and where is OK to get in. Ta

can't be doing with pies, Pukka or not.  Leigh White will be on in a bit to tell us how, back in 1989, he got the train there - down the Ivanhoe line - and ended up with a banning order from  Puk

I know who you mean, aye - tasty wench.

I must be older than Rachael, she’s never tried it on with me. Not saying I wouldn’t help her out over a barrel from the carriage though

Just been told that almost all the NQ is table bookings and a lot places you need to download an app to order and pay

Anyone been in White Lion in westhoughton? Meeting a mate in there later just wondering how busy it got?

Sorry for late reply.

Was in there Friday / Sat / Sunday.

Steady not packed out.

No standing at bar , front room every table taken .( every time ).

John Hyde room ok.

Darts room - empty.

Ugly Room , 50%.

Plenty of room out back.

Big Shelter and Tele .

New Gazebo wiv chairs.

5 tables in Garden next to the politically correct Statue.

One way system being observed.

In through main door out through the Unlucky Door as usual.

Holts Bitter on fine form.

Ashburner St was feeding the juke box on Sunday tea time.

How did you get on ?

Been in two pubs in the bolton/bury area tonight. One no details and table service absolutely fine (with Our very own @radcliffewhite1 good to meet you pal) Then onto another place where we couldn’t get in until we had registered via text and had confirmation to show at the door.

polar opposites but if I’m honest I would be happy with the second approach. We sat no closer than 5/7 metres from anyone so if I got contacted say there was an out break only person I would be concerned about would be the guy who served us. But at least I would know and could then take an educated view. If a pub is packed and I get contacted then I’m presenting with symptoms 3 days later and having a test.

Aye good to meet up mate

had similar experience last week in Bury trackside doing the text details bit before you go in and another was walk in but you got served at the bar.

Stopped for a pint at the Strawbury duck whilst out with the dog yesterday. Served at the bar as normal, but then sat outside. It was dead though, only 2 other people in there.

The bit I found odd was that in a bar 6-7 foot wide, there was a piece of perspex only 2 foot wide in the middle, seemed a bit pointless tbh

Last time I was in the Bury one, I would have suggested Robin was very much a bloke. :)

Definitely had a touch of lavender about the place.

It is always on form.

As is " shouty Bob "

Mind you most conversations in the Lion are conducted at volume 10.

Last time i was up there it had had a makeover plus a new platform canopy installed

there were a couple of limp wristed characters working on the bar

that was the last time I was in. Prior to that it had seemed 'normal'. Perhaps just a one off.

Get your lighter loafers on and go check it out if thats your thing

maybe skanky Rachael will sort you out back of the ale carriage if you can look 15/ 20/30 years younger 😁

Just catching up with these new restrictions. So am I allowed to go to the pub for catch up with a mate....socially distancing.... outside if need be...??

no

However, I've already had a message from one pub

You can only sit with people in your bubble or people you live with. But we don't know where you live. :)

And thats their smiley

I might take the bird to the pub tomorrow and hope it’s a different pub to the mrs otherwise social distancing could be tricky

Right..... but if I get a train or jump on the 125 to Adlington, then we’re ok?

Correct. Covid can’t cross the border

I've had a phonecall this afternoon checking if the table for 2 I've booked for tomorrow afternoon is for a single household. I may have told a little white lie

I’ve just posted this in the coronavirus thread, then seen similar posts so copied it here:

Im in a pub right now. On my own. Social distancing. So I’m obeying the rules.

I am amazed how many cohabiting males there are though.
