July 13, 20206 yr Excellent late Sunday afternoon wander up market st. Started at The Beer School, sat in the extended beer garden , well to be honest ( patch of cinders ).but it does the job. Moved for 1 in The Brewery Tap. Ground floor tables full but plenty of room on the first floor. Great little watering hole. Then on to The White Lion and its secret garden complete with statues (all politically correct) and bird boxes. 2 excellent pints of Joey Holts finest were soon knocked back. At this point my drinking partner headed home. I wandered back to Italiano's and while Calzones ( 2 for £11) (standard size )were being fettled i nipped back over to The Beer School . A reet good 4 hrs . Highly recomended. Drinking partner after 132 days of lockdown , turned up with no cash and no bank card but there you go. As Gromit would say " it didn't spoil a grand day out ". Sadly did not encounter any of Wigan's finest to discuss football finances with , but there is always next week to look forward to. Edited July 13, 20206 yr by embankment

So you didn't spot the water feature and the hidden path leading to a clearing containing a hot tub . Fluffy towels & Waitress service , including nibbles from the Balti Taste and Italianos. Camra members exclusive area of course.

July 15, 20206 yr The other pub in our village has decided to close down again, apparently she reckons it's just not worth opening, as once she's paid the staff, she's not making enough money for it to be viable, as almost nobody is going out (apparently she took less than £30 on 3 days last week) - so she's closed until the end of August at the earliest, and she's hoping social distancing will be over by then, or people are more confident to go out and have a drink...........It's struggled for a few years anyway, so I suspect it may well have closed it's doors for the final time, which leaves us as a one pub village, which is a bit shit.
July 15, 20206 yr There were about 20 in Holcombe brook hare and hounds 8 staff front of house and at least one came from kitchen Guess normally it'd be 2 All very well set out but folk playing pool which id have thought was a no no And 5 or 6 lagers we tried all had an iffy taste
July 15, 20206 yr The " Ale House " in Leigh is always busy, good set of folk arguing about England World Cups squads from the 66 and 70 era to who had an original hit with a song what comes on. 😃

July 15, 20206 yr was chatting to owner of my local about when they opened up on that first Saturday he was saying that had to spend loads of time getting everything ready re: social distancing, taking bookings/details, bar only services, making sure staff knew what they were doing etc there's a Holt's pub across the road, they didn't do any of that - they just announced on the Saturday they were opening and asked for social distancing but obviously it ended up a free for all apparently during the day / evening they had to call the police six times because of six fights - one was 10 on 1 lad (because he'd already knocked out 3), two lads scrapping and ended up going in the road and being hit by a car, and an incident on the car park where "everyone" started chuckling bottles and that at the police, so they ended up tasering "everyone" I also head the Crown in Horwich (also Holts) has fuck all in the way of safety measures (but didn't hear about any incidents)
July 15, 20206 yr I’ve just sat at traffic lights outside a boozer. Big glass fronted thing. 10 what could only be described as old piss pots sat around a shitty table in front of the window. Another 5/6 huddled around outside the front door smoking. But aye it’s safer than walking round asda. Course it is 👍🏼

July 15, 20206 yr Going for my first indoor pint on way home shortly. Albeit at a very plush golf course clubhouse but it’s still an indoor pint. No mask Edited July 15, 20206 yr by Escobarp
July 15, 20206 yr Had to nip into a few holts pubs yesterday for work and they have all the measures signage etc, however in each one about 6/8 smelly old fuckers huddled around a table and some playing darts😀
