And let’s not forget it’s the admins who will be appealing. The club is ran by them.

They are paid by the hour so they will be happy to do so as you correctly point out. All adds up. Plus they will be bringing in their “legal team” aka pals

I have a slightly different view, but same effect. Administrators have to appeal - the only way of realistically getting a decent sale away.

From the administrators‘ and legal firms’ perspective, why should they not get paid for what they do?

If someone said to you, “we’re in the shit so how about you come and do some work for us for free (or we might not pay you if you submit an invoice)” would you do it?

I’ve spent a lot of time working with admins as the major secured creditor. Thus the admins were appointed by me and working for me.

this appeal is a 0.5m/£1m punt  with huge upside if it comes off.
and of course people like lawyers etc will work for them

i used to get wined and dined and taken all over the place by the big four and the large legal firms. I was their pay Cheque in essence as were my colleagues

Will the players not have relegation clauses in their contracts so the wage bill goes down if they get relegated? If they win the appeal and stay up they will have the same wage bill (until they sell players) and some players will have bonuses for avoiding relegation written into their contracts. Don't know the difference between league 1 and championship money but I'm guessing its not millions different.

No, just the fact they pipped us for promotion in 75/76, and the cunts surrounding our van when we lost 4-0 in 78.

Fair do's. Somewhere in the sands of time is a clip from MOTD, filmed from above the Embankment, from the Manny Rd paddock iirc, a big 'hole' opens up after much scrapping and a boing boing stands there in the middle, giving it the big 'come an' have a go if you think you're hard enough' bit and a Wanderer runs up and gives him a flying kick to the face. Cue Jimmy Hill, 'disgusting! He comes in and delivers a Kung Fu Kick!'      Long before Eric Cantona........................................

Had a few good times around the pubs near the Hawthorns, went in to a pikey place in Handsworth, and was ill for days after supping some local bilge.

Bored so cheered myself up with a browse back on 'tics speak'. seems sympathy from 'Jelly and ice cream' has upset some no end just because if user name. pmsl

Technically, they didn’t get relegated, the players would argue they earned enough points to stay up and did their job. It was the club hierarchy that got them relegated.

If I was a Wigan player/agent, I’d certainly be fighting my corner to avoid a wage drop.

and you would lose

You might be able to argue staying up bonuses were due

Points gained etc

But if they're in 3rd tier, wages will be whatever was agreed

Pop goes the weasel

They're convinced they'll win this appeal, if they do, huge can of worms opening.

Is their forum one of those shitty vital football boards, or have they got a proper one like we have with our several?

It would be a nightmare for the efl. Approximately 40+ English clubs have entered administration in the past, the scale is enormous. The best result for football would be the points deduction stands and it then discourages other clubs from challenging points deductions in future.

Add to that, teams could go into admin and appeal their points deduction, if EFL set a precedence, then chaos will prevail, no fucking way are EFL going to let that happen.

Which is why nobody has ever had one overturned for admin

What happened at Blackpool?  I seem to remember them entering admin or similar but not getting a points deduction around the time we did.  It was explained at the time why they didnt get a deduction and generally accepted but I can't for the life of me remember why.

The EFL board concluded “that the appointment of the receiver is not material to the club’s ability to fulfill its obligations as a member club and as a result should not be regarded as having suffered an insolvency event, meaning a 12-point deduction is not applicable”.
