Absolutely one to fund a statue of the guy who owns them and did this and put them into admin. Imagine the uproar 😂😂

I'm finding this thread so uplifting.

Does anyone think they could win the appeal? If they did would Barnsley then appeal? Could open a can of worms 🤔

No they won't. Just imagine the shit storm the elf will face from all previous clubs that have gone into administration. Also any club in future could just enter administration clear their debts and no points deduction.

Not a hope in hell. The admins are in - sure they might not owe any money yet but they have nobody to pay bills therefore they are seeking to gain a financial advantage by having admins negotiate lesser onward costs.

They are toast. Simple as that. L1 with a shit team awaits

I dont see how they can. Fact is owner put them in admin because they werent willing to continue funding the club.

Wigan fans saying it came totally out of the blue and they were sustainable before are kidding themselves. Reported loss of £8m per year? New owners cutting loose. Losing money before covid so cant use that as an excuse

Once Sharpey in his desperation to get out (that says everything) sold it to a dodgy far eastern corporation the die was cast. Rules are rules admin is minus 12 points. If they win appeal its going to send shockwaves through the league and possibly delay start of season.

Its a massive gamble appealing because in many ways it is not helping now. The half a million cost could have gone towards wages, the uncertainty must put investors off and until its sorted the wages stay at championship levels. Plus as we all know the administrators dont come cheap Krasner  looks a right dodgy geezer hes bleeding them dry.

Lose the apoeal and i think they are fucked. Win it and they still.need a lunatic to take it on. Get that popcorn out.

How long before the admin liquidate them? Can see it going to far into August if they don’t get a buyer.

If wigan did go, itd only be fair to leave tranmere in div 3 and promote non leaguers to get 4 back to 24

I’d prefer them to go pop a bit later. Stick with the leagues as they are, but promote three teams from league 2 to league 1 to make up the numbers next season...

Unless they have a buyer who can prove finance to keep them going then its liquidation for sure. Cant see EFL allowing them to start the season and having another 23 team League 1 next season.

Yes. They have decent players so even with a fire sale and contributing on going wages, they will sell enough of them to be able to survive.

We were shit but had other assets. Bury had a far worse talent pool to get shut of.

It won’t be pretty for them - especially if they don’t pay wages and players give them 2 weeks notice

Got a free pint n burger when Bury rocked up at AFC Wimbledon in the away end.

Worst thing I’ve read for a while.

If Wigan did appeal the 12pts as well as paying their own costs, which you would expect, they will have to pay the EFL's costs and also pay a fee to challenge it. looking at more than £1m in costs. So I'm told.

Pissing in to the wind comes to mind.

Which is around only 2/3’s of their monthly salaries which are due this week. That wage bill for a club of their size and turnover they generate is why people are being put off left right and centre

having no money to pay staff yet spunking a million quid on an appeal which they won’t win. Laughable

It’s a no brainier appealing.

If you don’t appeal, you go into league 1 owing £X million to creditors, who won’t get paid all of it. Who would want to buy that team?

If you lose the appeal you’re in exactly the same boat, except owing £X+1 million to creditors, who still won’t get paid all of it.

If you win the appeal, you’re still in pretty much the same shit financially, but are in the Championship, which has slightly more appeal to buyers.

In all circumstances, the administrators will get paid.

And let’s not forget it’s the admins who will be appealing. The club is ran by them.

Correct. The admins won't be going anywhere near the appeal process. It's fun, isn't it 😊

It’s a chunk of cash pissed up against a wall that will just come from the creditors pockets.

Pretty sure it’s Friday the appeal. I’m out on the piss Friday afternoon so it could be a lovely end to my week.
