Its appeasement, that's all it is, and more people will end up dying in the longer term if you essentially capitulate to agressors. These aren't peace deals in the slightest.

  • We’ve reached a point where folk are so entrenched in their support for trump that they’ll side with Putin if it means not losing face on the socials. Thats where we are now. its ok

  • That Vance is a bigger cunt than Trump

Day one

Thats what the man said

Apparently NATO are now on the highest alert for an imminent attack from Russia.

Theyre not saying where but I’m not sure I’d want to be in Estonia for a while

Surely Putin hasn't got the balls to go up against a NATO member. It'll be a pretty short war if he does.

Reports indicate Russian forces might be about to make a major gain by taking Pokrovsk which has major road and railway connections and encircling remaining Ukrainian units. That would be a significant loss to Ukraine holding onto its heavily industrialised Donbas region.

That could explain why Ukraine's allies are getting edgy

Fortunately The Don has ensured peace so I’m assuming this is all just a bit of banter

Putin is demanding the Donbas as part of a peace settlement, if Russia makes a major gain in this area as currently appears likely then Trump might drop his "paper tiger" stance and agree to Putin's demand and the summit might be back on.

Ukraine and the EU won't like it but in Trump world that's almost irrelevant.

Otherwise it's back to attrition... to date Russia is advancing at less than 20 miles per year

Far more to it than that.

I've been following Jake Broe, amongst others, in his analysis.

It does/did form a rail hub supplying much of the area.

He describes the Pokrovsk battle as being "land for time".

Russia is losing money hand over fist, together with refining capacity, men, food production etc.

Ukraine has scaled up drone production remarkably, and supposedly outstrips Russian production.

They are also struggling for money, but the agreements with other nations over military equipment manufacturing, exports etc will see some money coming in.

Putin has ordered an even greater push in the area too apparently, so as to get "a win". It has cost incredible losses though- an average of 1000 per day now, and their spending on their military has fallen this last year or so.

They're stalling for time until Russia's unsustainable conflict hits the buffers.

Putin needs a win before winter sets in to influence Trump then he'll be clobbering Ukraines' energy system as in the previous campaigns

Ukraine currently has no fossil fuel.based power plants.

They have all be hit.

They do get repaired, but don't last.

The people are used to it though, and have an app showing when power to their area will and won't be available- presumably as repairs and redistribution is carried out.

Anyway, I've put this link up for donations.

The NAFO set up is amazing- from the baltics to Ukraine, they're delivering equipment.

Worth a watch of some of the videos, and any help will be gratefully received.

That's a shame. I thought he'd been potted! 😁

Watched a little documentary thing yesterday that showed Putin has multiple "offices" all over the place, that are meant to be identical.

The idea being that they can say he is in place A, but actually he's in place B.

Trouble is, analysis has seen subtle differences, and they know roughly where they are.

Bloke is the ultimate paranoid schizophrenic apparently.

The information came from a Ukrainian sponsored feed... he might have gone to the Lubyanka for the old bullet in the back of the head and he might still yet go... but I suspect he'll crop up with his USSR sweatshirt next time there's a summit

Or you don't behave as a tyrant, terrorist etc in the first place.

There lies the problem... perestroika has happened in my adult lifetime. We expect other cultures to simply adopt our versions of democracy, which in our case has taken 500 years to develop. We do it in the Middle East all the time, some nations need tyrants to hold them together.

They do.

Russia arguably doesn't.

The place has many resources and should be able to provide a good standard of living for its people, and by trading peacefully across Europe and Asia even more so.

Moreover, if he kept his tyrannical ways within, then there would be no war, and no sanctions etc. No one would bother.

So would you now agree that Zelensky and his political party do have some responsibility for the shit show we now see? Putin is definitely not innocent but Z is not as squeaky clean as some commentators make out, his primary responsibility was to protect his people and not expose them to such danger.

They got in on the Euro-ticket but then proceeded to wind-up their previous occupiers who are known for their brutal and inhumane outlook to their populace.

I referred to it as "pulling the bears tail" when it all first kicked off.

A load of absolute cock.

They're are a sovereign nation, fully entitled to pursue their own identity.

If the soviet system had been remotely decent: hadn't shafted Ukraine, murdered many of its people, stolen their food etc previously, then who knows, the country might have been happy not going down this route.

To suggest VZ shouldn't undertake what his people want, for fear of exposing them to the same tyrannical overlord is perverse in the extreme.

I reckon you would be hard pressed to find many Ukrainians angry at him for his leadership, and standing up for their rights.

Additionally, he was elected almost by accident, as the people made their ire at the alternatives known.

The ones with proven dodgy links.

You seen desperate to put VZ in the same category- just like the BBC did with Trump.
