Some interesting stuff in the US National Security Strategy... predicting an erasure of European civilisation.

I don't agree with everything but it indicates a direction of travel where Europe is left to its own devices and the trading blocs just leave them to their wars... we've got to decide where we belong

So the largest trading bloc on the planet is going to leave its members to its own devices? And the US is going to abandon its closest allies and only trade with the smaller trading blocs, who it is accusing of trying to erase European civilisation?

That security document is something else based on the headlines. Shows how unreliable the US has become. Pro-Russian, anti-European. Advocating destructive populism. We need to decide whose side we’re on I fear. Never thought I’d say this, but time to abandon the increasingly fascist regime in Washington, for now.

"The West" is well and truly fucked, but not for the reasons Farage and Trump are portraying. Quite the opposite. They are the reason.

If we decide to jump  off the US -China-Russia-Indian train are we not just committing ourselves to 20 years of Kalashhikovs, tanks and drones with our EU "allies"?

Delicate times.

This shit has been festering since peristroika and is only just coming to a head.

Bigger things at stake than a minor skirmish over the Donbas

Morons will always cheer on fascists as long as they aren't a target. It takes some time for them to realise they are nothing more than a simple tool, and will be discarded just as quickly as the victims whose persecution they celebrated.

Aye

The world looks totally different to what it did 100-200 years ago and beyond

It won't look like this in 100 years either

Is why I don't get angry when it doesn't look like what I want it to look like

As long as our kids can go to school, do better than we did and we can all see a doctor and be warm.

It doesn't really matter where you pay your taxes, it's the hot heads who stick their heads over the parapet who start wars,

I hate  political ideology

It'll just be reversed in 3 years' time.

You may want to read up on generational wealth, and how Millenials might be the first generation in modern history to be less well off than their forebearers... I'm sure it's all just down to them having Starbucks and Netflix though.

We could be on the verge of a collapse in society where inequality created by self serving and older elites increase the likelihood of rebellion... we are all complicit.

It's up to the millenials to start using their votes.

Trump and Farage are "self-serving older elites" on steroids.

Don't forget presidents Putin and Xi

Putin and Xi aren't supposed to represent the interests of Western civilisation.

Not that there’s a good way but a training accident is always a shit way for a squaddie to go out

It's a shocker.

No doubt the family will have been a touch nervous about him going out there, even if it wasn't to fight.

Nevertheless, they could not have envisaged this.
