Bertie Posted November 28, 2025 Posted November 28, 2025 An absolute disgrace if true. No more than expected I guess. jmjhb Posted November 28, 2025 Posted November 28, 2025 Doubt Zelensky is signing it though so it's somewhat moot Quote
Dimron Posted November 28, 2025 Posted November 28, 2025 I was concerned the peace deal was talking around $100 billion of investment in rebuilding and Ukraine has repeatedly failed EU membership owing to government corruption. Could this be a sign of them putting their house in order prior to a deal? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckg9nd2wddno This guy has been with Mr Z since his early TV days Quote

If you were an Ukrainian and have to tolerate power cuts leading to nightly darkness, cold and bombardment, plus the lucky youngsters are the ones who come back from the front line on a Blighty Ticket with no legs how would you feel if you found out that the non elected number two has been lining his pockets? Mr Z came in on a non corruption ticket and has become richer as things progress. There is an opportunity here for US & Russia to install a new puppet government, if this means the end of the bloodshed, so be it in my world... Quote

Expansion of the conflict can't be any good, Turks will be pissed off worrying about tourism, Kazakhastan already miffed and Putin will now have an excuse for another blockade of Odessa leading to grain shortages in Africa. Needs to be finished somehow. Quote

Bertie Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 Looks like Witkoff and Kushner are going out for a nice meal and a bit of sightseeing tonight in Moscow with their Russian pals. Good to see them playing hardball with Putin. Quote

Obviously, some engine oil etc will leak out, so it's not ideal. That said, trying to "lay environmental blame" when there is a war going on is bizarre. The shite littered across Ukrainian towns and farm land will be polluting for many years to come. I suppose Russian blood may replenish the depleted soil though. Quote
Bertie Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Interesting to hear the Russian language after the late night talks yesterday, trying to drive a bigger wedge between US and Europe, positioning the Europeans as anti-peace. Probably for his home audience but potentially for Trump’s ears as well. I’m sure their mutually choreographed end-game is for the US to walk away from Ukraine (& hence Europe), welcome Putin back into the international fold, and secure lucrative trade/oil/mineral deals. With Trump it’s only about money. A soulless, morally-bankrupt narcissist. Roll on the US midterm elections. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Mid terms won't bother him. Anyway, I don't think they will move away from Europe- other forces within the US establishment won't allow it. Of course Putin is trying to do what he can and his belligerent "we are ready for war" is nothing more than a panic statement, given the dire state of the economy over there. Deflection, challenge, call it what you want. NATO now has to stay strong and united, and back VZ (with or without the US) and ensure that Putin is ousted when the people and politicians realise it isn't working at home. Quote

I never expected anything to happen in Moscow... Original US plan... stop fighting and you can have the Donbas... Putin says "yes" Revised US/EU Plan... stop fighting but you can't have the Donbas... Putin says "no" "NATO now has to stay strong and united"... One third of members still haven't chipped into PURL including the UK and Italy today has again refused, citing Kiev corruption and a desire for restoring relations with Russia. Do we now sanction Italy? Quote

Fuck knows why Trump was stupid to suggest he could fix it within 24 hours of taking office, it won't be fixed for his entire term as President, as it's currently pretty much unfixable, until Russia either run out of money, or get bored and go home (which I don't see happening anytime soon) Quote
