As was touted the other year, the average American will vote with his "hip pocket nerve" (or some such other daft saying) - if MAGA works, then they'll get in again and we can probably look forward to JDV being President. At present, I'm not sure MAGA is working, and they may well be a lot, lot worse off by the time the next election comes around. I'm sure Trump really doesn't care one bit, but his party will, so at some point, they'll have to reign him in.

US debt has continued to rise, and is currently upwards of $38T, the Government has effectively been "shut down" for a month, which isn't helping anybody either. Apparently it costs $1T per year just to service the current debt levels (which have been rising at breakneck speed since about 2010, so it's not all down to Trump..). He could be in for a bumpy ride during 2026

Like him or loathe him, JD Vance doesn't have the same pull that Trump does. No surprise that it was a good night for the Democrats when Trump wasn't on the ballot

He came out of nowhere during the primaries leaving the democrats prime candidates of Eric Adams to step out of the race and Andrew Cuomo having to stand as an independent.

I know, but you suggested his election was pushback against the Democrats, even though he stood as a Democrat and was voted for by Democrats.

It's a push back against the DNC and their centrist weak willed response to Trump

It's ok, the bloke who heads up FIFA is creating a FIFA peace prize.

I'll give you one guess who the arselicking whopper gives it to.

I haven't decided who I am awarding it to yet.

Now come on. When is it ever not 'a bumpy ride' for him.

Besides the hip pocket nerve thing, there are many Americans who cringe at his actions and antics. I believe that a higher amount really enjoy many of his forthright actions which have the bleeding heart liberals from around the world skriking over things like Fentanyl shippers being obliterated; support for Israel, the ICE programme etc.

Time will tell but the one thing I am sure about is that all the anti Trump hystericals on here will still be frothing at the mouth on the 19th January 2029. The Don is going nowhere.

Y'see, nobody gets "hysterical" about Trump. Most non-simpletons just think he's a cunt. Nothing "hysterical" about that.

You didn't see Bernie the Commie celebrating with him? Open your eyes FFS.

Thought you’d pick up on that.  Regardless of where we both think he is on the leftie spectrum any thoughts on his policies - surely those are hard to argue against and play politics with? Easy to see why these resonate with ordinary US voters atm, in comparison to the actions of the self-serving, billionaire-rewarding orange narcissist? I think Trump and his cronies are starting to panic and so they should. The edifice is crumbling already 🥳.

Letter that often does the rounds on the hard left and people's perception these days

In 1962 I was a Conservative. I believed privilege could only be justified by service, high taxes on very high incomes were necessary to prevent an entrepreneurial economy becoming a rentier economy, and Keynesian growth would finance public service improvements and a welfare state that steadily reduced inequality. I was suspicious of ideologically driven, large-scale change. These were the mainstream policies of the Macmillan government at the time. In 60 years I have moved from centre right to hard left without changing my opinions.

This is a great quote but it took me a while to get my head around it! 😂

That shining beacon of free speech - The Don - now wants to pore over everything someone has said on Twitter before letting them in?

Does it say what would be considered unacceptable?

Good idea

Not really

If you're called John Smith from the UK and have never done social media, are they still going to check every John Smith from the UK to check their social media to make sure the John Smith you claim to be isn't the same John Smith from Peterborough who may have said summat Trump doesn't like?

Main thing is that anyone who has ever said anything nasty to Bolty will be barred.

Of course, the company/software the US state would then use to screen all out digital footprints would be Palantir…..a company owned by Peter Thiel, who of course is one of Trumpys billionaire tech mates and who bankrolled JD Vance to VP.

Corruption in plain sight.

But the blind MAGA loons lap it up without realising the far right continue to erode their personal liberty.

Thats another black mark for me then.

Do you remember that bloke who came over here a few month back who was posting on Tik Tok that he was going to kill Farage? He’s in jail now. Like I said it’s a good thing. I’m sure the Americans will have some Form of software to make sure they get the right John Smith. Maybe everything can be linked to our new digital ID

That bird who said we should burn down asylum hotels got jail time.

That's different because it was inciting the murder of foreign brown people, not Nigel Farage.
