He's already told Starmer he needs to sort the economy and immigration...  not wrong there

Mamdani is a reaction to both Trump and the Democrats limp wristed response

Not to mention this result being a massive boost to the Republicans for the next Presidential election. This might play well in NY and California but it will do exactly the opposite elsewhere.

Even 'moderate' Dems are saying this.

I think it’s broader than just this NYC vote though. Dems won the governor elections in Virginia and NJ with more “conventional” candidates.  No, I think folks have finally come to their senses and this is the start of the MAGA movement thankfully on its way out 😉. Old Trumpy will be in a tail spin.

You live in a fantasy land mate.

The only tail spin the big man will be in will be over deciding how far to go with swingeing cuts to federal funding for the extreme left in NY.

Trump's red states rely on money from NY and Cal so he can't piss them off too much.

Plus, NYC is his hometown.

The only places where it matters are the swing states.

“Extreme left” 😂😂.  You should apply for a job as his next press secretary.  You’re a natural with the required lingo.

Had a quick look at Mamdani’s key policy priorities. Below. Hard to disagree isn’t it? Unless you think Trumpy should instead have a bit more chavvy gold or marble in his bathroom.

Mamdani promises affordable housing, free public buses, rent freezes and universal childcare for children under five.

"This is a city where one in four of its people are living in poverty, a city where 500,000 kids go to sleep hungry every night,"

500k seems a lot.

This report says 420k in poverty (kids) out of about 1.7m.

So given a bit off leeway for political messaging it ain’t far off.

And you thought Blackpool was a shit hole.

Thought it was a full of fat kids eating pop tarts and fried chicken.

NY not Blackpool :)

That’s why there is nothing left for the others

Wonder if the numbers include kids who won’t eat cos they are too fat as a size 0 ?

It's ok, the bloke who heads up FIFA is creating a FIFA peace prize.

I'll give you one guess who the arselicking whopper gives it to.

As was touted the other year, the average American will vote with his "hip pocket nerve" (or some such other daft saying) - if MAGA works, then they'll get in again and we can probably look forward to JDV being President. At present, I'm not sure MAGA is working, and they may well be a lot, lot worse off by the time the next election comes around. I'm sure Trump really doesn't care one bit, but his party will, so at some point, they'll have to reign him in.

US debt has continued to rise, and is currently upwards of $38T, the Government has effectively been "shut down" for a month, which isn't helping anybody either. Apparently it costs $1T per year just to service the current debt levels (which have been rising at breakneck speed since about 2010, so it's not all down to Trump..). He could be in for a bumpy ride during 2026

The elite hate him because he wants a better life for people at the expense of a bit of profit for landlords and the ultra wealthy.

And Trumps supporters lap it up like it's the jizz seeping out of his cheesy bellend

Maybe overweight kids eating cheap ultra processed food all day is a new form of modern poverty….

With a hint of natural apple flavouring*

Just leaving that out there.

Whats everyone having/had for breakfast this morning ?

Hardly an enlightened opinion is it ?

Anyone can stick their beak into another country and say what it needs.

Hows the US economy doing under Trump ? Is he doing a better job than Labour on that front?

Starmer needs to grow a pair & tell him to get his own house in order next time

Quite badly, not really

That's not to be taken literally of course, it refers to manufacturers of all dairy products

Like him or loathe him, JD Vance doesn't have the same pull that Trump does. No surprise that it was a good night for the Democrats when Trump wasn't on the ballot
