Newport (A)

Hopefully we’ll be going down there on the back of three points against Colchester.

Newport are back in Newport after two games in Cardiff to give them a chance to rest the pitch at Rodney Parade. Just in time for it to host Dragons RU v Northampton on Saturday night. FFS. Fingers crossed it stays dry or the pitch will be knackered for Monday.

Need to play 1 game at a time and 3 points against Colchester is a must, then see what Monday brings. last thing we want to do is underestimate Colchester and balls up.

Morecambe have always been there or thereabouts.

Beat Cheltenham recently and are a good side.

Newport got a game in hand too

As it stands Tranmere and everyone in a play off spot are in with a shout of automatic

Cambridge and Cheltenham look to have done enough

3 of our last 7 against teams vying for top 7

Lots yet to do

I really do hope we smash Harrogate

Just watched the sky highlights- it's an absolute scrum at the end, and clearly can't tell from the video, but the players' reaction is perhaps telling.

Much more pleasant now the kids have gone to bed.

Newport play both Cambridge and Cheltenham yet.

Morecambe and Tranmere are the main rivals for me.

Tranmere still to play FGR.

Looking at the fixtures think we play morecambe 3 games from the end, obviously a lot can happen before then but as long as we are no more than 2 points behind when we meet I’d be pretty confident of winning our last 3, they could have a few wobbles themselves so it may not come to that. Keep the faith,

Tranmere have Salford and Bradford as well not easy ones.

You’ve obviously seen the photo.

If I could post pictures I’d go for the Lemon Party.

Have heard about Lemon Party, still no where near as bad as Mr. Hands, 4 Girls Fingerpaint, 1 Man 1 Jar or Pain Olympics

And just seen Morecambe's game in hand is tomorrow at home to Southend FFS

Thats fine

Get it played

If they go top 3, so be it

See how they cooe with the pressure

Fwiw...i never doubted we would be promoted this season and in recent weeks i was convinced it would the automatic

Tonight, im less confident than any other point of the season, which probably seems strange, when you consider our position in january

Forgetting the bad misses, for which we only have ourselves to blame and baptistes effort at the end, id like to see the replay of madisons cross to half a lion when doyle, seemingly, put it over the line

Was that offside against dapo?

Aye, and i put money on us in Feb as i was convinced we could do it, automatically

And now we have a chance I'm getting nervous

That's because we should, like today, with our apparent quality, we should be finishing teams off well before they become a threat, but we're not

As opposed to earlier in the season when we only became a threat when we were up against it

It's making me nervous, but I'll take it, because in December I never saw it coming

It did raise a chuckle when a couple of our lads were kicking fuck out of that heap of players in an effort to get the ball over the line.

We never seem to get opposition defences on the turn because we are so slow getting the ball forward. Arthur has to have balls in front of him to use his pace and strength. Instead we put him on the wing like a policeman on point duty waiting for someone to pass the ball to him when he is standing still.

Our results are always close and will be due to the style we play. So it will be touch and go.

What are you on about? Arthur wasn't even on the bench.

I thought a couple of times today our wing-play wasn’t the issue. We got the ball up with one and two-touch football. The difficulty was not being able to capitalise.

We got in behind them down the wing loads of times in the first half and with better finishing we go in having scored 3,4 or even 5.

Poor finishing let us down today.

Couldn’t understand why we were so good down the rhs first half , Isgrove & Jones excellent and then pretty average second half .They must have changed it tactically although their sub was right sided.

As someone said they played pub football & the ref was so naive at times with their time wasting.

When  they played at ours they looked like a footballing side , today they played kick & rush & took five minutes to take a throw in & fckg beat us 1-0

Its hard to take given the chances we created & missed.

The silver lining is that if it is going to be the playoffs we have nowt to fear from the likes of Newport or the others.

I like the tone of IE and MG interviews after today’s defeat, very balanced, calm & rational, no panic, exactly what we need going into the final 7 games, get Sarce back fit and let’s go again.

never said we’d keep a clean sheet..

You wanted to talk about the clean sheets that Gilks has kept this season, but as soon as Newport score, you don't want to talk about this match all of a sudden

Hairy muff sounds like decent logic to me you double twat!!!

The key point for me was IE reckons the ref asked the keeper if it was other the line!

Hope he thought it worth asking the linesman

The chance where Lee decided to try and chest the ball into the net instead of heading it was ridiculous. I’m wondering, with all the publicity of dementia from heading a football, if this is why he didn’t nod it in. Just a thought.

That’s enough reading of this thread

Nah, I’m not having that his thought process in the second it takes for the ball to reach him has him asking himself “I should head this, but due to all the negative medical research on heading I think I’ll try something different”

It didn’t bother him a couple of weeks back when he nodded in the equaliser against Walsall.

It was very simply a very poor execution, which everybody, Lee included, can see.

I still can’t see how we managed to lose. If the crosses which fell to Lee fell for a Newport defender, even they’d struggle to keep the ball out. 2 of the worst misses I’ve seen in a long time
