Meanwhile in Israel

Is it kicking off big time or is this just everyday stuff they deal with or a bit of both?

That’s politics on wways summed up nicely. Not been on here in a while and it’s business as usual😀

Wonder why 🧐🥳

My point stands, elections give Hamas a platform. Few posts back, you were keen for them to be obliterated.

Thats all.

Democratically elected or not, if the leading group refuses to recognise the existence of its neighbour, then it's onto a looser.

Moreover, there are plenty of examples of democratically elected people, where the very process was questioned.

Yitzhak Rabin had peace within his grasp, look how that ended.

His efforts needn't have been in vain.

Considering the current incumbent incited crowds to oppose the peace accords I don't hold much hope.

This mon isn't exactly popular- the elections over there haven't yielded a clear winner.

Perhaps this is in part him showing he is strong in the face of adversity, won't harm his support.

To argue that one side is right and without blame ( not aimed at Bolty) in a dispute that has been going on for years is just not true.

I know very little about the whole situation so can not be on a 'side' but look at the link below a 10 year old kid. Utterly heartbreaking it says and kids being caught up in this clearly is.....but....watch it, is she really a random kid caught up in fear anger and desperation ? It seems almost stage managed and the fact that my cynicism about people involved in these disputes makes me think like that is pretty sad.

Pallywood strikes again?

Videos doing the rounds of gangs of Muslim lads exacting vigilante style revenge on some dude that dared to oppose them on social media.

This is the problem over here. All these professional protesters have no idea what they’re getting in to bed with when they back Islam.

An absolute monster of a religion and set of backwards beliefs like no other. Nothing will stand in their way.

How can anyone left leaning back these people?

Very good point.

How can decent, normal, reasonable, hardworking folk back these?

No wonder that people are flocking from Labour’s extremisms.

To me, this is genuinely one of those fights you see in the boozer that you just watch.

It's 2 of the pub dickheads who keep drinking together.

Shake head, go back to pint and leave them be.

The bouncer dressed as an NFL linebacker will be along again shortly, wearily splitting them up for a bit.

It really isn't.  It's more like a big, hard bloke who would be happy to keep himself to himself being attacked by the pub's, useless dickhead, & when dickhead gets put on his arse yet again, he starts blubbing, playing the victim & putting in for a compo payout.

Population of Israel - 9 million

Population of Arab lands (muslims for arguments sake) - Over 250 million

Size is relative

And I'm not taking sides. The muslims are fucking stone age at times. The Jews aren't without guilt either, but I feel for them and can understand why they may have a persecution complex.

They all need to grow the fuck up.

Two thirds of the population of Israel think they are direct descendants of God through Adam and that they are the people especially chosen by God to be on the Earth for his purpose.

They're all as fucking backwards as each other.

Isn't that essentially what all religious types believe?

Scousers have their own wailing walls too.

Can definitely see this turning into a “straightener” thread

Went on a tour of Israel and the West Bank years ago with a football team I used to play for.

A couple of the god awful pitches we played on can be found in the link below... We had some nasty injuries that tour. Good laugh though.

Tel Aviv is a nice place and well worth a visit. Some nice spots in the West Bank outside of the towns. The towns are madhouses. Experienced nothing but sound hospitality throughout and rarely felt on edge. But there is a deep hatred of Israel and racism towards Jews throughout the West Bank. Plenty of Israelis we chatted to wanted to see their government make more compromises in a peace treaty. But whilst people like Netanyahu and Hamas are running the show then there's no chance. Was there a couple of weeks and I left feeling like I still knew fuck all about the complexities of it all.

Not sure about the argument that Israel will stop if Hamas stops firing rockets. Only way wounds can begin to heal is if Israel stops the land grabbing and settlements and more Palestinians stop supporting extremist idiots like Hamas. It's a vicious cycle that won't be ending anytime soon.

This.

Israel must stop illegally taking land from Palestinians and in turn they need to move away from Hamas and towards dialogue.  With luck, Israel also moves away from Netanyahu and his policies also.

May be an image of 1 person and text that says '"My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town of Staszów. A German soldier shot her dead in her bed. My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza. The present sraeli government ANGRY ruthlessly and cynically exploit the continuing guilt among Gentiles over the slaughter of Jews in the Holocaust as justification for their murder of Palestinians. The implication is that Jewish lives are precious, but the lives of Palestinians do not count." Gerald Kaufman'

Bet you don't find many of those these days

Look at Palestine in those times,  look at how the people were dressed.

Same could be said re Iran, Afghanistan, Lebanon etc......then what happened after the Islamic Revolution ?

These places have all gone backwards not forwards. Religious wars fuelled in the modern era by oil money.

Everyone needs to watch Adam Curtis's brilliant Bitter Lake and listen to every single word.

Remember seeing a program showing Beruit in the 1960s it was a playboy paradise that attracted the rich and famous then in the 1980s you had a civil war between Christians and Muslims that demolished the place . Think you would be very lucky to see many Christians still living there .

iran was very liberal when ruled by the shah till the ayatollah took over with a Jewish population that was expelled

In Iraq sadams number 2 was a Christian and was a circular country ruled by a dictator

muslims Jews and Christians have lived side by side for a thousand years in the Middle East not always peaceful but have managed to survive

less so in the last 100 isis ect no tolerance  So we’re definitely going backwards

Being against Israeli govt aggression doesn't, despite what some would say, make you anti jew

That's just a cheap shot to stifle opposition
