Local news was buzzing tonight about an American finance house called Carlisle Capital putting a bid in for the asking price of 28mill excluding the stadium which is still owned by Candy Crush Mel Morris; one of the financial acts that led to the melt down.

And I'm guessing buying Salford in league 10 or whatever was a damn site cheaper and less convoluted than getting Steve Dale to sell Bury.  Its not fashionable to say so, but the Neville rant about Derby was a passionate, articulate argument similar to his response to the super league last year and I'm glad there are people in the media capable of putting that across.

I agree for the most part; however, I'd ask the following?

Where was the family last year when Derby were delaying (won't say cheating) with their affairs so as to stay up?

The greed then was at their end, and it cost Wycombe.

Completely agree, Derby's behaviour (cheating) was disgraceful.  But it was a few individuals as such not the club as a whole and certainly not the supporters or town.  As Neville alluded to, whatever some blokes that just happen to be at a club for a spell do, the fabric of our game and communities should be treated as "listed".  I'm not saying that's easy to achieve, but whatever tricks an Anderson or Bassini try to get away with, the "football family" has to find a way to keep the clubs intact if at all possible. 

We're only another bad owner away from being the next Derby or Bury in a few years time, it shouldn't be allowed to get to that stage, and Neville put it better than I can.

You could argue that we also had years of fun and frolics while our owner and management ran up debts that we couldn't afford. Owners come and go and whether we enjoy it or not the fans have no control over how the club is run.  I agree that the club needs to feel some pain, but for what it's worth I hope they survive.

Chap on Quest has just said 'we' have to help Derby.  We don't want another Bury".  Bury didn't have a buyer.  There's fewer multi millionaires willing to chuck their money away on footy than there once was.  I'm certain Bury won't be the last.

Could be my memory playing tricks on me but didn't we still owe about £20 or so million after Eddie wrote most of the debt off? I was including Sweaty Ken as one of the owners, he left us in a worse position than he found us and very, very nearly did kill us, winding us up was his intention IMO, not paying staff and changing his demands at the eleventh hour during negotiations with buyers being his trump cards to do so. His shenanigans regarding the promised fee for the lad we got from Forest Green was shameful.
